Poetry Keeps Me Safe
Poetry Keeps Me Safe

The pages in my book
Keep my poetry safe and sound
The folded tops or the torn out pages
Holds emotions the size of the seas
My friends are goddesses
Warriors Making humanely decisions
So when I write about them
I make sure to get all the details right
In a way, I can never forget what they taught me.
We are a generation of broken souls
To broken to mend ours,
To willing to save theirs.
We are confused children
Still figuring out what life is.
Still struggling with love
Confused with the concept of self-love.
My thoughts and poems
Keeps me company when I'm alone
We talk about all the love and hate in this world.
The love, we don't get and the hate we don't deserve.
So I look up and think
That one day I'll find a place
With my own peace and family within
All those family I have, and all those I've created.
And we'll stay there because
We are too broken for this world
Healed too many times.
Broked more than it.
The pages in my book don't always keep the poetry safe.
It keeps me safe.
