Covid19 has shown us all that nature is the boss, we don’t control nature but it is the other way around; in fact, nature controls us every second by giving us air to breathe. Prior to corona pandemic, everything was going well, economies were in good shape almost all around the world with a few ups and downs, people were enjoying, partying, having good times; in short, we were in better shape than we are in now. However what went wrong? why everything has stopped? Were we doing things in the wrong way right from the modern era and because of that we stopped now? Were all the things about the consumer-based economy not true? We taught our children by literally writing in the books how to exploit the natural resources in spite of using them sustainably, the word sustainable came after a long period of time when we had destroyed the nature to a great extent. We created people as consumers of almost everything including unnecessary things that we are understanding as unnecessary amid COVID crisis like party culture, even virtual things like Virtual reality as if we wanted to run away from reality or we just did not want to face it. Is money so important?

Can’t there be an alternative to money like point systems? People are more concerned about how to earn money rather than how to avoid getting infected since corona showed up, can’t we provide food and medicines to people who gave taxes their whole lives or retired persons who served the nation just for few months or year for free, why do we need money to feed people even in this crisis, what is our thought process in the middle of corona crisis? what happened to our logical thinking? where did our humanity go now? All of us were moving around in circles just for few bits of printed paper having numeric values on them? We must think of it. How the ancient civilisations used to survive epidemics, floods and natural calamities. The Indian, Egyptian and Chinese civilizations are ancient ones and have been time tested and they have all faced epidemics; were they better at economies or medicines?

The answer is they had superior culture than we have in the present world, they used to think for others first, they were of the opinion that I may get hurt but someone other must not get hurt or diseased by me. They had the philosophy of giving as compared to today’s philosophy of “always me first”; just look at the markets of Europe, people there are fighting for commodities, and stocking them up, they just don’t want to share with others. We must make the economy more reachable to the needy ones i.e those who are unable to contribute in the economy must also get equal share in the economy, it will make it holistic especially to the unemployed and poor. Unemployment and being poor is the modern capitalistic era disability, which should be taken care of. Why not open up economy equally to all the population of a nation, what if by doing so the economy gets a boost as it may be as a motivation to do something for an unemployed or poor. Maybe covid19 is here to teach us to be human again, have compassion for life, nature, and fellow humans. Hope to see changes around the world after pandemic ends, hope money mindedness will be sidelined and humanism will triumph.
