Do you believe in love at first sight ... then continue to read further. I was born with a silver spoon, brought up in a conservative family who strongly believed in traditions and family practices. Before the age of 1 annaprashanam, at the age of 3 aksharabyasam, at the age of 12 ceremony and age of 20 wedding bells this was the pattern for girls of the family. Our family lived in Dr. Radhakrishnan's neighborhood , our elders were well known for hospitality and friendliness at the same time family policies were strictly implemented . Women / Girls cannot step out of home post sunset, girl children cannot play outside the campus once they cross 10 and TV time ,play time was restricted to weekends only, we as kids had the privilege of good food, amicable joint family system ,happy learning environment and enjoyed sharing household chores along with elders of the family. We were protected in a cocoon but we were taught to think and act independently. Even after 50 years we carry the rich heritage along with us at the same time accept the modern age changes to undergo smooth transformation .

When I was 14 we had to move out of our ancestral home to community living due to sudden business loss .Our family was split into small groups to sustain the the temporary condition .We were given a choice between independent home versus apartment life. we chose to live in a bigger community which had facilities like well maintained large garden area , open terrace and lot of families to mingle with. We had to accept the major change in life style as it was just a nuclear family with limited supplies but we had a lot of friends, ample of play time along with challenging environment to balance relationships .

One pleasant evening I was enjoying the breeze sitting on the wall of a well nearby when a young dynamic figure crossed by, I could see his body frame for a flash of moment but couldn't see the face but my heart skipped a beat. I brushed that feeling off my thoughts very soon as my exams were coming up and I had to prepare. After nearly 3 months during the winter break we started playing outdoor , indoor activities along with boys of same age group while my younger brothers formed their groups. It was fun as well as an unique experience to me as I was brought up in a covered environment in a huge bungalow. We had boys versus girls fights, debates, arguments and we would find negotiators to patch up immediately .We did group studies on the terrace and held secret meetings too under the neem tree. Life starting turning green and fresh in my teens as I evolved into a confident leader , great companion , popular among boys group and I was labelled bold and beautiful. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder .

When we were preparing for our final exams in the terrace , played carrom, badminton and cricket ,sharing the same space I received some positive signals from one person often that gave be a ' butterfly effect' . Again the studious me ignored the signals for nearly six months while never realized that there was a bigger plan going on behind my back .I was excited, thrilled to get attention but didn't reciprocate it. One fine day when I was at the common area phone booth answering a call I felt the flash figure behind me , I hurriedly finished my call and quickly ran a few steps when the young dynamic teenager proposed to me with a small note inside my science text as he knew science was my strength . I grabbed the book and ran inside my house , my heart was pounding heavy ,I opened the note which said ' I Love You'. I was sweating , giggling and enjoying the moment of happiness .

Nearly a fortnight passed by eventless , the restless young boy was waiting for a reply eagerly while the young girl in me was fluttering with joy inside and dreading with fear outside . But the fond girl in me accepted the proposal as it was ' Love at first sight' for both of us . Do you remember that day near the well when a flash passed by ? The mighty flash called ' Lovestruck' our heart the same day. This is how I met my husband and he calls it 'Destiny'. We were in secret courtship for nearly nine years . We had ups and downs during our meetings . We were motivated to reach our goals of being an Engineer and a scientist so our special time together was more of knowledge share and plans for future. Our liking for each other multiplied as we spent more time together sharing and caring for each other holding on to our emotions. At the age of 21 we were mature enough to handle our vision as man -wife but we were keen on convincing parents to accept our proposal as there was a number of taboo attached to our relationship. We were same age , yet to find job and too young for marriage . We equipped ourselves to face the D day .

One fine day our parents and family members were informed about our serious relationship , thanks to the vast neighborhood of friends families who noticed the time we spent in the open terrace alone chatting away to glory. Mothers were worried , the fathers were furious and our brothers were supportive but nothing changed between us ,our mission was to get married with blessings from elders of both the families. Finally after a great effort we were accepted and married off to begin a blissful life together . It's nearly 40 years since we met each other ,our affection , respect and understanding has increased multifold. We always assure ourselves to stand beside each other and to support with unconditional love . The beauty of our relationship is ' Telepathy' the moments when we think and do together. We believe in complimenting our capacities and creating our own space to love eternally .
