 CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

RANJAN-The protagonist of the story. He was clever, caring and student’s president of the college and also he had beautiful hazel eyes with a beard.

ROCKY-The childhood friend with fun and the narrator of the story.

The DIWAKAR-The roommate of rocky.

SHRITHU-Smart an adorable girl who is having a crush on Ranjan.

SHAHID- Food delivery man and The lover of Ranjani.

The gloomy days make me do nothing. Everyone has changed and moved on to their work except me. the reminiscence of vibrant days spent with my Ranjan is hard to forget...

The protagonist of the story is Ranjan, a handsome guy having hazel eyes with a beard. He is from Kerala. His passion is to become a musician but because of their parents, he came to engineering college. Ranjan and Rocky are best friends since childhood. And we did our engineering in the same college but a different department. Rocky is none other than is me who is narrating this story. Ranjan was a naughty but caring One. The girls from his class were fond of Ranjan not because of his appearance but because of his character the way he behaves with them. The college that he had studied is famous for raging but when Ranjan became students president, he had prohibited the raging against everyone. Even though he was a favourite for everyone, he was a drug addict even I don't know that first time. Every night he used to smoke and he will use some effective drugs which will give him pleasant feelings. At hostel warden had allotted different room for me and Ranjan that hurts us more than a breakup. But we both used to stay in a diwakar room. One night I went to Ranjan room to call him to the diwakar room but while I enter his room I found that had watched some videos which are related to drugs usage. This is not the first time, I've seen it many times that he had doing this. I asked it about but he refused to say everything and simply he got irritated and went to sleep. I scold him like anything and went to my room. I felt very bad for him. The next day morning, Ranjan came to my room with a devoted looking. I got perplexed and asked him about last night but Ranjan said "good morning Rocky...I had waited for you the whole night but where did you went ".His words made me indifferent. So from that day onwards, I started to watch the activities of Ranjan. But as usual, whenever he came to college there is no changes in his behaviour and his studies also going good. That day evening I thought to be with Ranjan for the whole night but unfortunately, I had some painting to do for the upcoming college Day celebration. that evening I went straight to Ranjan room after I had completed my painting works at college. This time I found Ranjan has to study and preparing for something .so I leave that room without entering into it....It's 11:50 pm we are waiting to celebrate diwakar's birthday. so we planned to go to a club and night show movie to make him a surprise party. I thought to call Ranjan for this surprise party. So I went to his room but I was flabbergasted about the appearance of Ranjan because he had clean shaved his face. Ranjan lost his beauty. When I asked about that, Ranjan said that he is going to play the piano for a college function, so only this appearance would more suitable and perfectible. While I asking about the music, he took off his mobile phone and started to have chat with someone with a deep smile. Finally, Ranjan caught red-handed. I just grabbed his mobile and I saw a romantic chatting between the lovers, I got a little shy because the chats were like that. He saved that number as "SHAHID". I asked Ranjan to show his beloved photo but refused to show it. Ranjan told me, that they are going to get married soon. Ranjan said "I'll show you shahid on that special day". I agree with Ranjan's word. But I still don't understand that why he is calling his girlfriend as a "SHAHID", the boy name. So I asked Ranjan, but he just smiled and told me that he is going to give me a surprise. Later I understood, Okey!! Ranjan would reveal his girlfriend name on that surprise Day. I asked him about where and how his love has started?? Again he smiled and changed the topic .so we started to celebrate the diwakar's birthday. So that night becomes still more beautiful because we were at a club, having a lot of drinks, dance with girls, party and enjoyed every little thing. Almost we don't want this night to become a day. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen. We slept at night peacefully like "kumpakarna".

Next-day Morning...... The day is favourable for every people ... Yeah!!! It's Sunday. 

Everyone was like dead bodies...I mean they were in deep sleep. I woke up because of my idiot friends, intentionally they played the devotional songs. At 9'0 am everyone went near to the bathroom and waited to take bath. There are only 10 bathroom for 150 students. It was like a fish market, for each bathroom 20 members are waiting. Fortunately, our roommates occupied One, so through that, all our friends plan to take bath in it. I called Ranjan too. But Ranjan was already occupied nearby bathroom, so early he went and started to bath .while Ranjan was taking bathing I heard some girl like voice again and again. It was like an absolute girl like voice. I watched around the bathroom, when I get my ear closer to Ranjan bathroom to check whether he is speaking or not, one of my friends called out to me and says that diwakar is singing beautifully like a girl and also he is speaking. I went there and broke out into laughter. The Sunday went smoothly. 

Monday, the day hate by everyone but for us, it's gonna be pleasant because we are going to have a practice for the college Day function. Everyone looks at Ranjan differently...off course his appearance makes him look differently

Every girl says that Ranjan has spoiled his beauty by himself. why did he do this? everyone asked because Ranjan was only identified by his hazel eyes and beard. But Ranjan doesn’t felt bad for that. he just simply answered that “he had done this for college day function”. Shrithu, the smart and adorable girl in Ranjan class. Some boys had proposed to her but that went useless. But She had a crush on Ranjan but not Ranjan. Shri came closer to Ranjan and touched his cheek and she whispered in his ear “why did you do like this my Romeo”?.with a fraction of a second Ranjan got angered and slapped shrithu then he went out of the classroom. I was lucky enough because I got a chance to see those beautiful moments. Because once I too proposed her but she rejected me. Later, Ranjan and I went to the canteen to have a cup of cappuccino. There Ranjan’s professor came to meet him and the professor said that as Student’s President, Ranjan is going to organize the college day programme the next week that is November 25. So Ranjan has started to work for the college day function. He had allotted the works for each department so that the works would be finished earlier. Still, two weeks are there for our celebration. All the three-year students were happy and they are waiting for the celebration but we the final year students have become a little sad because we are going to be apart after the celebration and end semester examination. It's 6:45 PM……….everyone got tired of practising for dance, drama, painting, playing musical instruments etc……

All my friends went earlier to their hostel room. Even though I did not participate in any of the competition, I waited for Ranjan. Ranjan has just come out of the campus after he had finished his all works. We both were hangout that night because I only noticed some changes in Ranjan so I need to have some talks with him. And we both were starved like anything so we planned to go to a hotel. Ranjan was a pure non-vegetarian, Tycoon hotel is the perfect one for non-vegetarians so went there. Tandoori tea is special at tycoon hotel. We ordered tandoori tea, chicken momos, fish biriyani with chicken grill and mojito at last. I'm having the habit of pray to god before started to eat. while I was in the prayer Ranjan ate almost half of the fish biriyani. We talked a lot and everyone at the hotel looked at us indifferently because we both we were laughed and shouted like anything . after long days we both were filled with happiness. The bearer came with a bill which cost 2500Rs. we paid and went out. That night breeze feels fresh and fragrance. we walked together to our hostel and we talked about our funny childhood memories. Then I thought to ask him about his lover but Ranjan volunteer himself and came forward and said to me that,” he and his beloved is soon going to get married.” And Ranjan added,” Rocky, Actually I planned to give you a surprise but I couldn’t hide it from you because you are my best friend “. And I told him to reveal at least his beloved name. Again he said, “it's gonna be surprise so I’ll tell you later”. Then I asked him about the drug that he had used so far. As usual, he hesitates to answer and started to cry and Ranjan asked me “will you be my friend forever”.These words broken my heart completely. even I too started to cry but I don’t know why I cried. Then I console him by said that I won’t leave in any situation Ranjan”. I don’t know why he had behaved like this. Ranjan said that his parents scolded him. So Maybe that makes him cry but my words comfort him to feel better. There is no family without a problem, even though Ranjan studied well he too had problems. How god is playing in our life……

Next day morning 10 AM ….

Professor announced at college mike that the college day celebration has postponed. So the function is going to held on November 26. Everyone felt happy because they have one day for practice. This week every staff members were busy with the works regarding the college day function. I was roaming to all the departments with my friends. There I found Ranjan busy with chatting on the mobile phone. After a minute Ranjan's professor and the principal came. The three were talks something seriously and his professor tries to convince the principal and also this Ranjan looks very weary. After everyone left out of the class. It's been two months, still, Ranjan didn’t cut his hair. It looks weird. Then I went out of that place without talking to Ranjan. while I roaming,shrithu came to me and said that something has happened to Ranjan, he didn’t speak to anyone after he heard about the announcement of the college day function postponed. Then I went to meet Ranjan, at the same time Ranjan is also tried to meet me. we both were met at the entrance mechanical department. Ranjan called me to come with him shopping. I was perplexed. I said him to be serene for a minute but he has given me a shock that he is going to get marry his beloved tomorrow. But I don’t understand that without even informing to parents how they are going to get married?. i asked him about this!!!. Ranjan told that my beloved parents will not permit me to marry me. That’s the problem here. For me, it's like a movie because everything has happened just like that. Ranjan asked me to come with him shopping. We went out of the campus without informing anyone. We went to a boutique, where Ranjan took an olive green saree and showed it to me to confirm whether it looks pretty or not. I told him that I didn’t even see his lover, then how can I say whether the saree would suit your lover or not. Ranjan said to me, that his lover was almost white and pretty like him. So I selected that olive-green with a pink blouse with a full embroidery work saree. I told Ranjan, that soon I will come to who is that shahid, the fake name of your lover. Ranjan smiles at him. I told him to cut the hair because tomorrow he is going to get married. But refused to do that because he is having that hair for the college day celebration. And he told that no one knows about my marriage. And he requests me not to tell anyone because it's going to be secret marriage even their parents don’t know anything.

I straightly went to Ranjan room and asked him to tell his love story, where and how did start? This time there no other way to hide the answers from me. Ranjan starts to say to his love story……..

Last year September 24, I was waiting for my food delivery which I had ordered in zomato. Almost I had waited for 25mins but I didn’t receive my food. later I got angered and kept the amount for food order went out of that place, after few minutes I got called by that deliver person, whose name is shahid. Suddenly, I interrupt him and asked him to tell me the real name of his lover. But he didn’t even listen to my word because he is building a castle in the air by saying about his love story. Ranjan told that he again ordered some kind of at zomato. He told” by gods grace this time also the same delivery person came to deliver my order. But unfortunately, I had urgent work at college so I went there so this time also I didn’t see the shahid…..after a month I was curious to see the shahid so I ordered again but this time I got a call from the number so I felt that shahid is not going to deliver the food today. And I attend the call and when I heard that voice my stomach was filled with butterflies because that’s the voice of shahid(my lover). Shahid told me that some other is going to deliver the food. finally, I got the shahid number and we talked friendly at We didn’t get any chance to meet direct. But I had seen shahid photo and shahid is too seen in my photo. such a pretty one. This is how our love developed…..

I felt mixed feelings with no emotion after heard about Ranjan's love story. That night went sleepless not for Ranjan but for me.

The day which is going to change the life of Ranjan !!!!

When I woke up I couldn’t see the Ranjan. I called him twice but he didn’t attend after half an hour he called me back and told me to come to the temple which outer side of the college.it will take almost one and half hour to reach that temple. He told me to come directly to the temple .without informing me he went to the parlour for makeup. Then I getting ready for the marriage and the things strike my mind that I should not tell about this marriage anyone. so without informing my friends I went temple by car. I don’t know what I was doing now is right or wrong. As a friend, I’m supporting him but I don’t how is going to end. Finally, I Reached that temple. No one was there except a few priests. Then I called Ranjan, he attends my call and told me that within five minutes he will be there. while he was standing, A guy came to me and asked “did you see any women with bride look”?I answered him “ sorry I didn’t see any of the women here”. The man whispered himself the name “Rocky”. I simply turned and asked, “did you call my name”. The guy told I didn’t know your name but I’m searching for rocky my lover’s friend name. while he was saying about that rocky the phone ringed on his mobile which is flashed the name called “Ranjani”. When he was attending that phone he turnout left side because his lover was there. I too turned left side. while I’m seeing that I went emotionless. My heart filled with tears but it doesn’t come outside of my eye. I was unable to express my feelings and a word doesn’t come out of my mouth. The reason for all these things is man sorry the woman who has hazel eyes, short wavy hair wore an olive-green saree with pink blouse embroidery came in front me and asked me, “ROCKY….how I’m looking in this saree”?. And also that woman asked that guy,” SHAHID…tell me how I’m looking”?.

The guy angrily asked that woman” ARE YOU A TRANSGENDER WOMAN?” ARE YOU THAT RANJANI”?

The woman replied with happiness, YES!!! SHAHID I’M YOUR RANJANI.

I shouted and cried a lot and it's become unbelievable for me. HOW CAN RANJAN BECOME RANJANI????…. WHY DID HE CHANGE HIS IDENTITY????…. WHY DID HE BECOME TRANSGENDER WOMAN????. WHAT HAPPENS TO HIM???????

……….After a great silence……..

That shahid becomes angered towards ranjani(Ranjan) and told her that he was fooled by her. He didn’t expect that she was a transgender woman. He told that ranjani was cheated him. But ranjani told me I had already sent my picture to you. so you don’t know that I was transgender when you look at that picture. she was almost having tears in her eyes. Ranjani (Ranjan) told shahid that “I was changed my appearance only for you, I want to live with you”.

Shahid said” but I didn’t expect this thought that you are women …but I never try to cheat you because I love you truly but if we get married means this society won’t recognize us, the society won’t respect us, the society won’t give equal rights to us. 

Ranjani cried like anything she tried to convince shahid but shahid left her from the temple without even said a bid adieu.

 Again the Silence remains…….

I was looking at both of them, their arguments, their love, the sacrifice but everything ends in ruins.

Ranjani(Ranjan) came to me and hugged me …and then she was burst out into crying. I don’t know what to do because the thing which was happened was not a small problem. surely it would change ranjani(Ranjan)life forever. This time I hesitate to hug my friend Ranjan. I asked him a question because I can’t believe this and I won't answer everything……..

1.why did you use the drug in the hostel?

Ranjan replied by controlling his tears,” because I was undergone surgery” so only to hide my pain I used those drugs.

2.why did you do the surgery?

Ranjan said” because I could found some changes in my body, at first even I too felt very bad for that…..literary he cried. only for this, I have started to shave my beard. And yes!!! it was me who had spoken and sing songs inside the bathroom. And only for this, I didn’t cut my hair. And only for this is allow shrithu to be close with me. 

He giving me the shock again and again.

He was standing behind me and said” I know you are going to leave me”, I know I do not deserve to live in this world”. it's paining not in my body but my heart. Forget everything ….this time I’m going to celebrate the college function with you. Love you, Rocky.

This time he gives me the shock forever ….now he refused to hug me ( cried shouted)

Ranjan cut off his hand with a knife.
