She rolled over to him. Touching him all over, she felt his actual presence and let the hearts beat slowly. It was true. He was there and she was next to him. She stared at him without blinking her eyes. He was beautiful. He is beautiful. His chest rose and fell as he breathed slowly. She smiled. This was her moment. The moment of love and surety and belonging. He gently opened his eyes. She meets his soulful eyes and kisses his chest. The rain poured. He pulled her closer to himself. She fitted perfectly in his strong arms. She reached his neck and pecked it. Without flinching, she said that she loved him dearly…


…she opens her eyes completely. There was no one next to other. She ran her hands on the table and grabbed the watch. 6:40! Why hadn’t the alarm gone? Did she forget? In this moment of being lost, she remembered the dream. She clutched the pillow and said to the empty space next to her, I love you.


Whether she had faith when belief was shattered was a sign of courage or of foolishness, time will reveal. But she knew that when her eyes did not gleam, there was something not quite right with her world. To not imagine, to not want, to not believe, to not dare were reasons serious enough to rob her eyes of their gleam and the heart, its’ beat.
