Mangled warts have been turning up all over Australia and the inhabitants are scared. Ten murders in ten weeks, all committed with a candlestick, and still nobody has a clue who the cowardly killer is.
DI Daniel Godfrey is a podgy and articulate scout with a fondness for star gazing. He doesn't know it yet but he is the only one who can stop the tactless killer.
When his lover, Simon Jolie, is kidnapped, DI Godfrey finds himself thrown into the centre of the investigation. His only clue is a squidgy newspaper.
He enlists the help of an intuitive teacher called Marion Malkovich.
