The Last Word

"It's of the time in Kolkata, long long ago, even before British came to India were something different. There were roads of mud & soil and bricks, stones, wood, kutcha houses but beautifully decorated with plants & huge trees. Everywhere mango, guava, coconut trees, banyan etc. Everyday elders went and sat under The Banyan trees and chat, gossip etc. All the women together cooked delicious foods. Meanwhile all the children danced around, swam in the deep ponds, flew kites and played a number of games like hopscotch, Gilli Danda, Kabaddi etc. There were no TV, mobile, internet or AI but people were happy then. They wore simple cultural dresses and ate the famous traditional foods like rice with fish curry, lentils and lastly rasgullas on a banana leaf. They led a really contented life.
Slowly as the days passed emerged all the innovative AI devices including AC, refrigerators, TV, mobile, heaters, ceiling fans and even electricity and internet. The made people's life easier and comfy. People followed social media and chat there. In course of time all adopted Western and eastern Korean cultures. Everything changed, people have modular auto smart homes, appliances and eat types of food such as burgers, Pizza, french fries, hotdogs etc. They have also adopted other culture's clothing style.
Maybe I couldn't cope up with them, the modern world and wanted to keep our own Bengali culture in atleast our home." Atul's old mother completed writing this in an oldage home. Atul, his wife and his children didn't wanted the old woman to be in there modern, advanced home and apply her own back dated ideas. They left her in an oldage home where in sorrow and depression after writing her last word, she took her last breath.
