The Ink-Stained Envelope ✉️
In the quaint hill station of Mussoorie, in the late 1970s, Aditi inherited her grandmother's creaky, ivy-clad mansion. Among the dusty bookshelves and fading paintings, she found a locked teakwood chest. After days of searching for the key, she discovered it tucked inside a hollow candlestick.
Inside the chest lay stacks of letters, each signed by a mysterious "A.R." The letters spoke of love, longing, and plans to meet in secret. But the most peculiar one was dated the day her grandmother passed away. It was half-finished, as if someone had been interrupted while writing it.
The letter read:
"My dearest... Tonight will decide our fate. By the banyan tree near Landour market, at midnight. I promise to give you what we have waited for all these years. Trust me one last time. – A.R."
Aditi, intrigued and slightly unnerved, felt an inexplicable pull to uncover the truth. Who was "A.R."? Why did the meeting never happen? And how was her grandmother involved in a tale of secret love?
Her search led her to the Landour market, now bustling with tourists. She inquired about her grandmother's younger days and found an old shopkeeper who remembered a charming poet named Aarav Roy. He was said to have vanished mysteriously decades ago, leaving behind whispers of a scandal and an unclaimed manuscript.
As Aditi pieced together the fragments, she began to receive anonymous notes at her mansion—ink-stained, just like the letters from the chest. Someone else knew the story, and they didn’t want her to uncover it.
But Aditi was determined. The banyan tree still stood tall in Landour. Beneath it, she unearthed a weathered box containing a locket, a faded photograph of her grandmother and Aarav, and a diary with cryptic verses about forbidden love.
The final clue was a riddle:
"When the moon is high and the ink runs dry, seek the poet's last sigh."
What would Aditi discover next? Was this just a story of unfulfilled love, or did it hide a darker secret her family had buried?
