The Eternal Light of Dharma
The Eternal Light of Dharma
Long ago, in a forest nestled amidst tall mountains, lived a young boy named Arjun. He was a kind-hearted child but often felt confused about the purpose of life. One day, while wandering in the forest, he came across an ancient sage meditating under a banyan tree. The sage’s aura radiated peace, and Arjun felt drawn to him.
“Gurudev,” Arjun said, bowing respectfully, “I seek answers to the questions troubling my heart. What is the purpose of life, and how can one live righteously in this chaotic world?”
The sage opened his eyes and smiled. “Arjun, your questions are profound. Let me tell you a story.”
He began, “Many ages ago, there was a kingdom ruled by King Dharmaraj, a just and wise king who lived by the principles of Sanatan Dharma—truth, compassion, and selfless service. One day, a severe drought struck the land. Rivers dried up, crops failed, and people began to suffer. The king prayed to the divine but also took action. He instructed his ministers to distribute the royal granary among the people and personally served food to the hungry.
One night, as he rested after a long day of service, he had a dream. In the dream, Lord Vishnu appeared and said, ‘Dharmaraj, you have
upheld dharma by selflessly serving your people. Remember, true dharma is not in rituals alone but in compassion and duty. Your actions have brought my blessings.’
The next day, rain clouds gathered, and the drought ended. The kingdom prospered again, and the king continued to rule with the same principles, inspiring his people to live harmoniously with nature and one another.”
The sage looked at Arjun and said, “Sanatan Dharma teaches us to align with eternal principles: truth, kindness, duty, and devotion. Life becomes meaningful when we serve others and live in harmony with creation. The answers you seek lie in living these values every day.”
Arjun was moved. From that day, he followed the path of dharma, helping the needy, speaking the truth, and seeking knowledge. His life became an inspiration for others, just as King Dharmaraj’s story had inspired him.
