There was a man called Jagtar Singh, who was a carpenter by profession and was living a normal life in a village near Ambala. He had two sons aged 7 and 10 years old. His wife was a homemaker. The whole day he moved around the village in search of work. Whenever he got the work, he did it happily. He worked hard to give a comfortable life to his family. He was a pious man and thanked God for whatever he got. His hard work paid him. He was an expert in his work. Once he got a chance to work for a rich man. He worked there for a month and earned a good amount of money. Slowly his fortune changed and he started earning well. He wanted to give a good education to his sons. His children also worked hard in their studies and did well in school.

Once Jagtar Singh was coming back from his work in the evening. He saw a small puppy crying on the pavement due to hunger. He had lost his mother and his condition was very bad. Jagtar took pity on him and picked him up and brought home. He took great care of him. He named him Shera. Shera loved him very much. Every day he used to go along with him on his cycle. He loved to be with him. In the evening Shera used to sit near the door waiting for him. This was his routine. Time passed by and Jagtar’s sons completed their education and got good jobs in Multinational Companies. They got married. Everything was going smoothly. But something else was written in the fate of Jagtar. His sons settled down abroad and left their parents alone when they got old. Jagtar’s wife also died and he was left alone. His sons sold off the property and gave some money to their father and left. He was getting older and couldn’t work anymore. He had to beg for his living. Sometimes he couldn’t get anything to eat. Even in this condition, Shera was with him. He never left him. He remembered how Jagtar took care of him. He was also hungry. Sometimes Shera used to pick leftovers from nearby small restaurants and gave Jagtar to eat.

One day it was raining and Jagtar was trying to find shelter to save from being wet along with Shera. When he was doing this he saw a man lying on the road incautious. He went immediately and pulled him aside under the shade. He instructed Shera to be with that man until he comes back. Jagtar knew a doctor on the same street. He called him to check the man. On seeing the patient, the doctor recognized that man. He told Jagtar the man was a well-known rich businessman who got a mild heart attack. He thanked Jagtar for calling the doctor timely. Both of them took the man to the Civil Hospital nearby. Jagtar took great care of him. After a week that man got cured and thanked Jagtar for saving his life. He was also an animal lover. He patted Shera also.

The rich businessman came to know about Jagtar’s life from the doctor. He became sad and thought of helping Jagtar. He requested Jagtar to assist him in his work. He trusted Jagtar for his honesty and completely relied on him. Fate again changed its path. Jagtar had now become one of his partners. He also became rich. Shera also did his duty of being with Jagtar. A few years later the rich man was on death bed. He called his lawyer and made his will. He nominated Jagtar as his successor and transferred all his property in his favor. Jagtar made a Trust after the death of the man. He mentioned his will that the Trustees will take care of Shera and other stray animals after his death. Jagtar became a celebrity. This news spread and his sons also came to know this. They came back to India and met their father but Jagtar didn’t pay attention to them and transferred all his money to the Trust for the welfare of animals. Today Shera is the master of all the money as Jagtar is no more...
