THE MIRACLE

Generally, miracles are considered extraordinary events that have come about through Divine agency. Miracles are the visible results of Divine intervention. What constitutes a miracle is dependent on a personal view of God: if God is not active in the world, then there are no miracles, just unexplained happenings. This story is based on a true happening. 

It was just last week that a miracle happened with one of a girl eighteen years. She is living with her family in one of the beautiful villages of Ludhiana in Punjab. All the members of her family have great faith in Maa Jagdamba and are God-fearing. Her parents are pious and believe in simple living and high thinking. They are hardworking, honest and loving people. The neighbors have great respect of them in their eyes. It was just a week ago that one of her relatives had organized Jagran Choki of Maa Jagdamba five days ago and requested them to come for the prayer and dinner. Everyone was happy to get a chance to attend the prayer and meet all the relatives at one place. But as everyone could not leave the house so it was decided that the daughter will go along with her brother on a scooter. The girl is eighteen years old and the brother is twenty-two years old. They started planning as to what they are going to wear and what will they serve there in the function. At last, the day came and both left for the destined place on their two-wheelers. They told their parents that they will be back by ten o clock at night as their village was in a secluded place near the forest area. 

They were happy when they reached the function on time and to see the lighting and other arrangements made for the puja. The prayer of Maa Jagdamba started. Everyone over there was busy singing the holy songs of the Deity Jagdamba. After the prayer, the dinner was organized for the guests. Both of them relished the dinner and planned to leave the place back for their home. It was already ten pm and was dark already. The relative requested them to stay for the night at their place as the road leading towards their village is secluded and is not safe also as anti-social elements keep moving there in search of their prey. But the girl said that Deity would look after them on their way and preferred to leave. Though the distance was not much but was not safe. So, her brother started off from there and when they reached near the road leading along the secluded forest area the brother noticed that some boys are chasing them on motorbikes. He got panicked and the girl started chanting hymns of Deity and doing prayers on the moving scooter. He drove fast but the condition of the road was the main obstacle. Then the brother told her sister to maintain balance on the scooter as he wanted to take risk of driving fast on that road. Then suddenly one bike reached near and tried to stop them but the brother was considered about his sister. After a minute all the four bikes surrounded them and asked them to stop. As soon as they stopped, one of the boys hit the brother and two boys made objectionable remarks on seeing the girl. They took away her mobile so that she could not call anyone. The brother got up and tried to stop the boys but they kept on beating the brother. The girl came in between to rescue her brother but they hit her back and as a result, she fell down. She started crying as all the boys were hitting her brother. 

The girl could not do anything but to pray to her Deity for protecting both of them. As she was doing this, a black car was approaching there. The car was being driven by a female. The car stopped and the female came out and asked what had happened. The girl held her tightly and requested her to help. The lady opened the door of her car and asked the girl to sit in and took out a stick from the car and told the boys to get off. But the boys started laughing and made fun of her. During this the girl asked her brother to leave the scooter there and to sit in the car. In the meanwhile, the lady entered the car and started the car. The boys ran towards her but then a miracle happened as the boys wanted to run towards the car but they could not as if their feet got freezed. The lady said that their house is not very far away as if she knew that. The girl was shocked to hear this as she was unknown to them and above all she was not from their village or neighbouring villages. At last she dropped them at their door and told them that she would wait there till they go inside the house. The girl’s father opened the door on hearing the knockings made by the girl. The girl wanted to thank the lady so she turned back along with her brother but what they saw was unbelievable. There was no car and no lady. How it could have been possible? Within a fraction of time one could not be out of sight. Both were in shock and told the whole episode to their parents. Her mother said that it was no one else but Deity herself in disguise to protect you. Everyone thanked her.
