The Awkward First Kiss

(THE BELL RANG AND SO THE CLASS ENDED. LUNCHTIME STARTED. ALL THE STUDENTS, EXCEPT THE TWO PERSONS - MAYA AND YUV - LEFT THE CLASS. RIGHT AFTER THAT MAYA CAME TO YUV VERY EXCITEDLY) 

   

MAYA: (excited) You know what, yesterday I watched a movie. 

YUV: So? 

MAYA: There was almost a kiss scene! 

YUV: (confused) ??? Almost a kiss scene? What do you mean?

MAYA: I mean that there was a scene where both the leads had almost kissed. But they could not at the end.(giggled) 

YUV: Why?? What happened?? What had stopped them from kissing? 

MAYA: (laughed ) Their nose!!!

YUV: ?? So, what's so funny?? 

MAYA: You would not get to know unless you watch it.

(AFTER SOME MOMENTS OF SILENCE) 

YUV: (casually) So, What do you think, will we also be interrupted by our nose when we are going to kiss? 

MAYA: (become shy) What the hell are thinking? 

YUV: Well, we are also in a relationship where will kiss someday. You know that right? 

MAYA: So what? We just started going out. It's only been a month.

MAYA:... Oh and one more thing let's close the door and move behind the curtains... Please? 

YUV: (sighs) Yeah... Let's move

(THEY CLOSED THE DOOR AND MOVED BEHIND THE CURTAINS. AFTER SOME MOMENTS OF SILENCE, BOTH OF THEM PREPARED BY DEEP BREATHING EXERCISES) 

YUV: OK! So, Are you ready?

MAYA: Yeah, I am! 

YUV: You look still nervous, you know? 

MAYA: Speak for yourself! You know that you are sweating profusely. And I know you only sweat like this when you are extremely nervous.

YUV: (speechless and embarrassed)"...... "

MAYA: Now, there! There! You don't have to be embarrassed in front of me... (after a little pause)....Well you can be embarrassed, or emotional, or nervous in front of me, 'cuz I want to know what are the different emotions you face on your own. (giggles)

MAYA: (feeling relieved) Yeah... Let's take our time... 

(Both of them came near to each other.) 

YUV: So... Close your eyes now... 

MAYA: Why would I close my eyes? 

YUV: So, do you want to kiss while staring at each other? 

MAYA:(realized and blushed) No... Sorry... 

(Maya closed her eyes, but then suddenly opened it again) 

YUV:(surprised) Hey... Why did you open your eyes? 

MAYA: (angry) Why are you asking me that question when you didn't close yours? 

YUV: Well I have to see that I am kissing you on your lips. That's why... 

MAYA: Then, I also want to see... 

YUV: No it will become too awkward and we will be embarrassed...

Then, suddenly the class bell started ringing

(Both of them got so startled that they jumped apart hurting each other's nose.) 

YUV: Ouch!! 

MAYA: Ouch!! 

(Both of them hold their mouth and nose and started to rub. It became both embarrassing and awkward.) 

YUV:... Ah... So... Let's move to our seats... Shall we? 

MAYA:... ahh... Oh... Yeah...!! Let's move to our seats... Other students will start to enter the classroom at any time. 

(And when they moved around leaving the curtains behind to go to their respective seats they saw some students staring at them. It became all the way more awkward and embarrassing, that they moved quickly to their seats. And everything became silent until the class started.) 

YUV: (inner screams) 'Oh no... They definitely saw us...' 

MAYA: (putting head down with inner streams) 'When did they come inside? What are we gonna do now? How am I going to face them from now on??' 

YUV & MAYA: (suddenly realized) 'Shit!!! We forgot to have lunch... Noooooo.......!!! '
