They say it's best when you marry your best friend. You understand each other like no one else does, which is one of the most important things and the relationship shall remain as transparent as ever. What's best is that you enjoy each other's company too!

The old best friends turned newly wed couple sat on the bench in the garden of their hill top house. He placed the tray on the table which held the kettle and two tea cups. He poured the tea into both the cups and picked up one.

"Ah! The red one's mine", she said, holding his hand.

"How does it matter? The taste is still the same", he said, looking at her, confused.

"No, that's still mine. Yours is the yellow one", she replied, making an innocent face.

"Oh my gosh! You're so cute!" he said, with a chuckle and took the other cup. They sipped their tea in silence, enjoying the beautiful weather.

"How was it?" he asked, after they were done.

"As good as you", she said, blushing.

A wonderful chef and an expert at making tea, he boasted about how she loved his tea, to everyone. The day did not start without a cup of tea made by him.

Years passed by and they had a little family of their own. They had been the best parents in the world, making their kids grow up to stand on their own feet. Like everyone else, the couple too entered a peaceful old-age.

It was a cloudy and cool day. That day marked their 40th wedding anniversary. They woke up and smiled at each other.

"Happy wedding anniversary", he said, casting a smile on his wrinkled face.

"You too! 40 years!" she said.

"And still going strong! Tea?" he asked.

"Of course", she replied and they went to their usual bench on the garden. He placed the tray on the table and poured the tea. Both of them sipped it, looking at the cloudy sky and the quiet beauty around.

"How was it?" he asked, as usual after they were done. This time, she did not have a smile on her face.

"What happened?" he asked, noticing her serious face.

"The tea wasn't that good today", she said.

"Oh", he said, frowning. She looked down at her cup.

"Oh no!" she exclaimed, with widened eyes.

"What happened?" he asked.

"This is your cup! You're holding my cup", she said, startled.

"Oh ya, the red one's yours but how does it matter?" he asked.

"This is precisely why the tea didn't taste good! I wasn't drinking it in my cup", she said, her eyes still wide.

"All these years, you were of the thought that it was the cup which defined the taste and not by how I made it?" he asked, confused.

"Of course", she said, sitting upright.

He put on a gentle smile on his face and looked at her. He admired her innocence. She hadn't changed a bit over the years. She was the same sweet and innocent best friend as she was many years ago.

"May I say something?" he asked, eagerly.

"What?" she said, turning to look at him.

"I really love you", he said, looking into her eyes.

She stared at him for a moment and said, "Your tea was good".
