Success Story

"Maammm......finally we have made it. Thank you so much mam", Nidhi almost bumped into the table kept in my small room where I was taking nap in my bed during the afternoon. 

I jumped off the bed in amazement and looked at the pale figure of the girl whose face was shining with excitement. That very moment she cried with joy, hugged me and told that she had cleared the medical entrance test successfully. She had even got a good rank, enough to get her enroll in one of the most renowned medical colleges of India. My joy knew no bounds. She was one of my favourite students. Her success meant a lot to me. We made up our mind to celebrate our special moment in the evening. Promising to meet me in a small restaurant down the street in evening , she left my place leaving me alone to get lost in my past.

 It seemed that it was just yesterday when I had also appeared in medical entrance test. I had always dreamt to be a doctor after all. But in spite of all my efforts ,I could not clear the entrance. I had tried the following year but again in vain. I fell into depression thinking myself to be a totally failure but thanks to my science teacher who helped me in recollecting myself. Then, I made up my mind to be a teacher. I was not able to become a doctor but I could try to develop many students into doctor. After that, a new phase of my life began. I completed my B.Ed and Msc and got appointed as a high school science teacher. There I met Nidhi who was very intelligent. She belonged to a poor family and was unable to join any coaching centre for medical entrance. She wanted to be a doctor but could not afford the fees. Somehow, I saw my own reflection in her. Then and there, I made up my mind to guide her to, teach her and to help her in all possible ways. I started giving her all my free time at home. She, too, worked hard. We became very friendly during the preparation. I did not only teach her myself but also made sure to avail all the study materials required for the preparation. 

And finally after three months of the entrance test the grand day had come when she announced excitedly that she had successfully cleared the entrance.

 I suddenly came into the present time and started getting ready for our small but special celebration

 After all, Nidhi's success was my success too. My dreams have come true through her. I smiled to myself and began selecting my most beautiful dress for the Grand occasion.

 So , I was successful now. Hurray !!!
