Street dogs of my colony
Street dogs of my colony
My observation about the street, stray dogs of our residential society. I am the resident of Kendriyabihar colony.. Mostly elderly people above age 50 used to stay here. Mostly owners stay alone, their children stay outside the city, Bhubneswar. Yes, animals have become part of our lifes. We live with them showing our humanity and charity that usually Indian society does. One thing I want to say here while we are living in a gated society paying high maintenance definitely we would like to give more importance to water and cleanliness both. Yes, we need to live with cooperation love and affection. Then comes the question of sympathy and well feelings. Here all are retired people with their pension and savings. They afford to live a comfortable life style.
Residents face the same disadvantages and advantages equally. Children neither stay with them to take care of their parents nor they are looked after by their parents. Yes, maids daily labourers definitely one existing problem in the colony as it is situated outside the city. They come from near by villages Begunia, kasipura Tomando. Present situation, area was developed tremendously with the help of BJD govt and UPA govt, good shops, vendors medicine dogs shops , restaurants were established. We are very positive optimistic about our rapid future development too. Now again, I want to focus on certain issues like cleanliness and future borewell water, scarcity of water problem.
If we donot obey or being abided by the rules regulations of wellfare committee or association then in future we cannot control the situations like street dogs, roaming Buffalo's cleanliness of surroundings, garbage dumping and street lights too. There are cases of robbery happened in our kendriyabihar which made us more alert about security.
We have appointed more numbers of security guards but still then it is a secluded lonely area so, senior citizens, elderly residents should be more alert about access of outsiders to the colony frequently youngsters enter inside PG accomodation being verified thoroughly. Now again, we are abided by association rules and regulations which have been implemented by the registered society owners association act. So, the privilleges we execute the laws in accordance with amendment of byelaws of the association. Everymonth executive meetings are conducted.
AGM is conducted with the decision or approval of majority members or owners, policies, rules are decided and implemented. So again I would give importance to empathy, love affection to the animals but on otherside what are laws implimented by the government to take care of street dogs, cows and domestic animals in a gated society we must know. Government takes care of stray dogs, roaming old cows and buffaloes.
Then my question is why should residents bother about the street dogs? The rules are, dogs should not be relocated from their original places. Do we ever bother about the orphans beggars who stay on road sides or railway station?? No, because we are not attached to them. We donot feed them everyday. So naturally we are attached to street dogs more because they used to stay with us in our oldage like our own children. Here, I want to say we must take proper care efficiently properly not carelessly. Behave the street dogs as your own pet dogs. I have seen in our colony people take care of their own dogs so seriously but they hate stray dogs and beat them with sticks why so much discrimination in between dogs?
Yes welfare gated society never allows street dogs to stay in premises or staircases . The byelaws never permits but out of humanity we must take care of stray dogs giving them food, milk, bread biscuits all. We must spray their body with dog's medicine powder etc.
Why cannot the dogs lovers owners take care of the dogs properly giving them necessary essential medicines? Sometimes I feel, they do hypocracy in fostering street dogs. Let them sleep, stay in a proper place like comfortable kennels homes of dogs. They must identify the correct place of their eating, sleeping and living area. Donot throw food here and there making the premises dirty in a highly well maintained cleaned premises. Give proper matts, carpet, disposable bowls, plates to the dogs. Keep the dogs cleaned to avoid skin diseases scarvy. See we need to train them about their food, feedings and cleaning activities, the premises should be cleaned everyday where the dogs sleep and eat.
We cannot predict the activities of street dogs. They are unpredictable. They can attack or bite unknown residents and owners while they carry food bags food carriages. As I have mentioned old elder residents, small kids and children live in the residential apartment so, we must be very careful in giving food to the dogs. Once the street dogs become mad and start attacking the residents better send them dogs shelters calling to BMC.
It is hazardous and dangerous too if we cannot keep the dogs properly in the staircases or inside the buildings. Our residential byelaws donot permit them to stay in the gated society without the permission of wellfare association. We must respect to the byelaws of our society act. Let the association decide proper places for dogs to stay, sleep and eat. (Author IndiraMishra, kendriyabihar, Tamando, Bhubneswar )
