‘Purity’, a water droplet was formed due to the collaboration of many H2O molecules. Purity was a very lively water droplet that lived in the azure. She wanted to live an adventurous life but little did she know that a great adventure would unravel for her soon.
The atmosphere was quite chilly and Purity was frozen to the core. Spotting some other water droplets close together she decided to huddle with them. Soon, other droplets had also joined her and after some time they grew into a huge mass. Unable to maintain their bond any longer, they were forced to fall down. They fell down whooshing and whooping! Purity was excited to begin her journey. They reached the soil eventually and were sucked in by it instantly. The soil was quite warm and soft, Purity felt quite cozy there. The other droplets had been sucked by the thirsty roots but Purity dodged all of them as she had no intention of being taken up by the plants as she was keen to explore the unexplored. She then reached a layer of very big rocks and she slid over them. After a long time, Purity was finally able to join the brimming river and leave the underground water track.
She floated on the top of the river and felt the sun and the breeze after what seemed like ages! When the sun was too hot for her she went deep in the river and saw the life there. She was amazed to see the life thriving in water. There were fishes in different hues; a big old turtle swimming in an experienced manner also went on. Then there were the cute otters that dived in mischievously. Also birds such as kingfisher were perched on the branch and at the right moment would swoop down and would gracefully fly back with a fish in their beak. Purity was enjoying the diversity’s play! She then noticed that some fishes taking in the water droplets; at that moment she felt proud because she realized the importance of her role. She knew without her and her friends, all the fishes will die and if they die, other organisms’ dependent on them will also die. Feeling glad, she went on the surface of the river again and saw the natural beauty around.
Purity was witnessing the true marvels of nature. Snow peaked tall mountains, with flower filled valleys were visible on both sides. Birds were chirping and the river was slurping; the leaves were rustling and the crickets were singing. The nature’s orchestra was playing in full swing. Purity took part excitedly in the nature’s orchestra. Flowers of all shades were dropping slowly from the low hanging branches and Purity was mesmerized to see this. She was cherishing these experiences and felt contented; little did she know that her happiness was ephemeral.
The calmness had now begun to subside and commotion on the banks was visible. Some organisms walking on two legs were the cause of disruption. An old droplet next to her told her that these were the human beings. Instead of the mountains now loomed tall buildings and houses on the bank. The first causality occurred with her when a wrapper fell on her. She shook it off her but the bad feeling couldn’t subside. The next face was the mixing of chemicals which on contact were burning her. Purity had no time to self cleanse as soon after humans were polluting the river in all the ways they could. She felt bereft of her piousness and sanctity. Her heart- wrenched to see such cruel beings who unlike the other organisms didn’t value her. What would she do staying amidst such ungrateful souls?
So, Purity took a resolute decision. She decided to leave this hell and go back to the heaven. So, Purity rose up in the sky and hid in the firmament. Are we responsible for what happened with Purity? What if all the water droplets decide to stay up in the air then how will we survive? We need to take urgent steps to save the purity of the water bodies and reduce the pollution so we don’t lose PURITY!
