Stories are made up, and making up something is lying. So, in effect, stories are just lies – sweet, thrilling, captivating lies. Lies that give us a break from the cold, harsh reality, lies that seem so real we wish they were reality.

Stories are dreams, wishes and hopes that we write or tell about what we would like to happen in reality. Some stories give inspiration, energy and hope, that maybe the world is not that bad and we can make it. For some, stories are an exit, a doorway to escape their lives, this world and their problems.

A chance for adventure, relaxation, love. A world where they can be someone else for a while, do things like fly – something s human being can never do on this earth. Yet some stories even though fictional or fantastical have a dash of reality's pain. Death, separation heartbreak... and in that way, we relate to the characters problems and sympathize and empathize with them.

We may even see ourselves in one character or several. Some stories are so called fictional or fantasy seem more realistic than our real world. Some books can be so brutal that we may wonder why we're still reading it, “It's just like this world I'm trying to escape.” we say to ourselves, “In fact, its worse than real life.” imagine that?

A fictional story that's worse than real life. Yet we hold on to that book and follow its tale, its twists and turns – we want to see if the characters we love will make it to the end of their journey. Perhaps subconsciously we think, “If they can make it, then I can make it too in this world I'm living in. ”

So in that case, stories give us strength, hope and zeal or energy to keep on keeping on in this faulty, cold, cruel but yet beautiful, interesting world – and its people. Whatever the case or reason for reading, we need stories. We need a place that we can escape to or throw ourselves in.

Be it fantasy, romance or horror books. Each book, each genre, has something unique and different to offer, but one thing I've noticed about stories from the ones I've read. No matter how beautiful, grim or confusing the ending or whole plot is; there's always a lesson you can learn from it.

We need stories in the world, and we should thank those who create these different people and worlds in their minds and put it down on paper and share it with the rest of the world. But also, we can be inspired by them and by our real world and lives to create our own stories.

After all, not everything is fully made up in the author's mind, some of it is based on some real life events. Real life people. Then the writer just puts their own little imagination and twists on the base of reality. Stories are wonderful and I think everyone who loves reading or hearing stories can agree on this.

I have come to the conclusion that, as long as this world exists with its problems, stories will always be made, created – people will need stories. We will need them to survive the turbulence of life and if possible some of the lessons we get from these tales can be used to thrive in the very real, but sometimes stranger than fictional world we call reality.
