18th Jan 2017, The day has been gloomy since the dawn. Dark clouds dominated the sky. Even the sun has lowered its pride. Everything about today made me sad from the core.

And with everything, came back a few memories from the past. It actually has been quite a few days now, that the memories started breathing again. You see, the memories I'd killed a long time ago aren't really dead. They have returned with a promise of revenge.

However, today is special. It has been two years now since Shirley left me. As I sit in my bedroom watching myself in the mirror in front me, my mind slowly drifts into the past..

That guy Edward, from the store Shirley worked at, he's the one. HE ruined everything. He killed the love that had been sprouting within Shirley and me since the Seventh standard.

11th Jan-2015, a week prior to the dark day of my life, Shirley called me on the home telephone. I knew it had to be important because we had been fighting for a few days then and also because she always prefers the telephone on special occasions. She said it gave her the feels. The first day she'd called me was when her dad wanted to meet me.

David, Dad wants to meet you.

B-41, 2736 Star route st., Illinois.

Be there on Monday.

Don't mess up. ILY. Bye.

Of course I messed up. Like the idiot that I am, I couldn't make it to her dad's.

And the telephone rang again very probably for another important discussion.

I picked up..

Hello! Shirley?

Yes. HI!

Hesitating a little, I asked, "You called on the telephone?"

Yes, David. We..uhh...we need to talk.

I knew in that very instant that the month long tension between us was about to end. I did not want to hear the next few words that were about to come out of the receiver.

"But why Shirley? After all the time we lived together.."

Shirley broke into tears on the phone. I could sense her face getting red under the eyes.

"There's another guy..from the same store. I tried very hard not to fall for him, David. Trust me I really did."

I felt every fang of betrayal over my body. But I could see no point fighting. She has already made up her mind. So with a thousand pieces of glass pierced into my heart, I asked her, "Can you at least meet me for one last time?"

.

There was silence. She spoke nothing and that killed me a bit more.

"I am sorry, David. I'm terribly sorry, "she said, still crying like a lost baby, "we are leaving town in a week."

"Edward, my guy, he has a house in Illinois."

The whistle of the pressure cooker broke my bubble. I hurried my way to the kitchen to shut it off.

As I returned to my room and looked into the mirror. Something very frightening struck my mind. My heart stopped beating. My limbs froze.

I kept staring at myself saying nothing at all.

For how long?

It felt like eternity.

But as I regained my consciousness, I wasted no time. I put on my coat, took my keys and headed for Illinois.

.

.

I reached B-41, 2736 Star route st., Illinois.

I rang the bell. The name on the door read 'Edward Franko"

A tall man answered the door.

"You..you must be David. She said you'd come"

"Where is she?"

Edward took me to the backyard where laid a headstone.

"In

Loving memory of

Our beloved daughter
