Run away pt 2

Chapter 3 Peter 

I walked around my cabin it wasn't to bad 

Although I noticed there was a bunk bed.

I thought I was going to be the only one in the cabin so I was confused, just then Peter walked in.

"Hi, there, I suppose John gave you his bed?"

"Yes, he did" I replied "I didn't expect you to be here though"

He chuckled "Well John has a soft spot for me, so I got moved up to a better cabin area. Also I have already claimed top bunk" 

I laughed "I don't mind, I didn't think running away would be this interesting"

Peter laughed "Your not the only one who ran away!"

I gasped "What do you mean, you ran away?" 

Peter chuckled "No, not me, I was sent to sea by my dad, I was talking about the Captain!"

I looked a bit puzzled and said "You need to explain a bit more."

Peter explained "Well I heard that the captain also came from a rich family, but he got tired of all the rules..."

"I know how that feels" I muttered

Peter continued "So he ran away to Sea, but I am not sure if the story is true I only heard two people talking about it, the captain is really mysterious so I wouldn't be surprised either way. But I don't get why you run away from all the riches just to be poor."

"You wouldn't understand" I replied

"Yes I don't understand and I never will" retorted Peter. "If I was rich, I wouldn't care who I married as long as I was rich!"

I replied with some sass "Well to bad no one wants to marry YOU"

"HEY" exclaimed Peter looking very offended

I laughed and he threw a pillow at me

We had a pillow fight and then Peter said "Alright my break is over I've got to get back to work"

"Aww ok byee, see you later!"

Chapter 4. A confusing night

A few days go by nothing much happens.

It was night time when the confusing thing occurred, I was sitting with the crew on the deck, we were drinking and talking, I had some rum, infact I had to much I was nearly drunk, I knew how furious my parents would be if they found out. 

I was sitting between Peter and John, we were talking, the captain wasn't there, he had just left, but before he left we talked for a while he told me about different myths and legends about the sea, he isn't a bad sort at all, he is about 5 years older then me, and we sort of got along.

Peter, John and I were getting to know each other better. We laughed and I told them a bit about myself, not to much though, while I was talking I noticed someone looking at me, It was a tall dark figure, I assumed it was the captain. But I quickly forgot about the incident. 

Peter was just telling us a hilarious story "So anyways, there I was crawling into the pig pen fearing for my life as the angry gardener came running after me" exclaimed Peter waving his arms about "Then when I thought I was safe, I sat down, just then I heard a pig squeal from beneath me, I had sat on the pig and it bit me I was bleeding so horribly....." he still waving his hands about wildly.

I muttered teasingly "Trust you to do something so stupid" 

Peter turned around and glared at me, he picked up a bucket of water and began to chase me, trying to spill the water all over me.

I ran along the ship.

My head was rather foggy from all the rum. I could hear John laughing and Peter just behind me. I ran into what I thought was mine and Peters cabin and quickly shut the door. 

Only to turn around and realise THAT THIS ISN'T MY ROOM

And standing in the middle of the room was the captain, half naked. I blushed and quickly apologized but I doubt he could understand what I was saying as I was speaking very hurriedly. The captain just smiled and said I could hide from Peter in here.

I didn't know what to say I just stood there frozen. I don't know why I was so embarrassed.

He told me to come sit on the bed next to him. 

And I did.

He asked me to talk about myself and I said the usual, like who my parents are, where I lived, who my friends are, except this was all made up, I had to lie to keep my cover from being blown. 

Then I blew it I began to say "So as a Carter my dad wa..." I realized my mistake.

Oh poor stupid me.

Thomas looked at me confused and said "Carter? What are you hiding from me?? Why are you lying?" 

I stuttered, my face went red, I splattered out "I- I..h...have no idea...what you.. I'm not lying..i- uh"

He said rather sternly "Look 'Kate' if that even is your name, I will have no one lie to me on my ship, I knew there was something off about you. Now I want you to tell me the truth of I will throw you overboard!" 

I gasped, he won't do that, will he? He can't, he is probably just scaring me.

"Well?" He sais, getting impatient.

"I- because I'm..running away, my real name is Rose and I wanted to get to Paris without anyone sending me back"

Thomas looked rather shocked and angry that I lied, 

"You realise that I could get blamed for this?? Your one of the most famous and rich people in England! Do you want me to get thrown in prison?" 

"N..No, sir" I didn't understand why he was so angry but it scared me.

He noticed this and he cupped my face in his hands and said in a soft tone "Nevermind then, I heard about your engagement to the duke, and I can understand why you ran away,"

I nodded

He continued "You know the duke used to be married, but his wife died"

Yes, I know the story very well, I heard they also had a son but he ran away, WAIT.. no, I don't have enough proof but is Thomas? No, it can't be.

And as if he read my mind

He nodded and said "The duke is my father" 

I gasped 

Everything was so confusing, I didn't know what to say, I was betrothed to his father. And he was the son and everyone was looking for him.

Thomas continued "Yes, shocking, isn't it. I hate my father, he never liked me either. I won't let you marry him. I can't believe he would dishonor my mother by just marrying someone else, someone he doesn't even know only cuz she is rich and.. beautiful"

His face was really close to mine 

My breathe got hitched in my throat. And he pulled me in towards him and kisses me.

I kissed him too. I suppose it was because my head was foggy or maybe because I didn't mind him. 

The kiss was getting rather intimate 

But just then we heard the someone open the door and Peter stood there shocked. And he had reason to be shocked, the fact that Thomas didn't have all his clothes on made it worse and Peter just stood there with his mouth wide open staring.

Thomas quickly bolted up and exclaimed almost shouting "Peter, get out. Ever heard of knocking?"

Poor Peter looked pale and left hurriedly, tripping on the way out.

I gasped, everything happened so quickly I stood up and said stuttering "I- I should probably go aswell"

I left without waiting for his reply

As I left the room I could hear him say "Wait" but I left and pretended I didn't hear him.

I went on to the deck and climbed out onto the lookout or eagles nest as I liked to call it.

I needed to breathe

Things had all happened to quickly for my liking.

After about an hour I climbed down and went to my cabin.

Peter was there, he looked hurt and angry.

I spoke up "Peter listen...."

"The Captain?!?" He exclaimed interrupting me.

"Look Peter things happened fast for me too, I didn't plan this, It all happ-.."

Peter interrupted me again "Oh sure, I'm sure it was an accident that you and Thomas were kissing ON THE BED and he was shirtless, TOTALLY a accident" he said sarcasticly, I could tell he was VERY angry this was the fist time he called Thomas by his name and it was rude for himto do so.

This annoyed me "First of all this is NONE of your business, why do you care so much?"

Peter looked red in the face and answered quietly

"Because I love you"
