Once again the cell phone vibrated.
Yesterday also an incoming was there from the same number. Sumita hesitated to pick up the call, as it was not a saved one. Generally she avoids the phone calls from unknown numbers or unsaved ones. Though true caller was installed in her cell phone, she was not so much conversant with it. Sometimes her children also make fun for this, Daughter Gudli says –
'Mama better you take a new mobile, that small one, and give me your smart phone.'
Sumita never does mind, nor give any reaction to the teasing words of her children, rather she enjoys as an innocent loving mother, though she knows the operation of a smart phone to some extent, sufficient to match her requisites.
Once again her mobile throbbed. She could see with half an eye, that was the call from the same number. Somewhere her inner sense smelled, that it might be call from any Diamond customer. At last she dared to pick up.
There is a good reason to be fearful to unknown calls, now-a-days. But Thanks to True Caller, helping to know the name of the person of other side.
He was Mr.Lokesh Shah, the Chartard Accountant cum Manager of Mrs. Mita Patel, the Owner of Jeevandeep Hospital, the second largest, in this city. Needless to say, Sumita had saved only contact number of Mrs. Mita. Immediately she saved that one and called back-
Oh Mr. Shah! Very Good morning Sir, she responded quite comfortably and cordially. Sorry, I could not pick up your call, I was on a VC with Zonal Office, she added a white lie, knowingly, to retain the customer at ease.
No problem Ma’am it’s alright. Actually Mita Ma’am wants to meet you, when you will be
free- A friendly tone of Mr. shah.
It’s my pleasure Sir, we will do one thing, I wish to visit your Hospital. Just tell me when Mrs. Patel is free, I will make my time and meet up with Ma’am,- Sumita expressed her gladness to meet such personality, who is also a Senior Citizen and a valued customer of her Bank.
Being in the Industry for more than three decades of her life, she is emotionally very much attached with her Organization. Moreover she likes to have communication with Public, also able to handle the irritated customers, to cool down them and be in tact with most of the circumstances. She treats her juniors just like family members. Sometimes she says –
'Nearly all of the time of our active day, we are spending here in office, hence we may treat it as our second home. All the staffs as members of this home, are like family members, each to be caring one, for others.'
So when juniors fail to convince a customer, generally rush to her, and gladly she takes care of the situation.
Over a discussion with Mr. Shah, she got appointment for next day’s time, before Noon, comfortably at half past of eleven. In right time she reached the Hospital. It seemed, as if Mrs. Mita, a Seventy plus lovely lady was waiting for her eagerly. She welcomed to her office, at first floor of the building. Comfortably Sumita get into the door. There were two other persons besides Madam Mita, in that room. One Mr. Shah, the manager of Jeevandeep Hospital and other nice person was Dr. Patel, better half of Ma’am, as she introduced. Though he had crossed the mile stone of Eighty, yet looked graceful, strong and with a pleasant personality.
Please Ma’am be seated- sweetly she said, offering the chair just right to her. Then she introduced her in a very nice way, for which Sumita was really surprised and impressed.
She introduced her to Dr. Patel-
Meet Madam Sumita, Senior Manager of our Bank Of India, Ellis Bridge Branch. She is better to me.
Sumita was just looking her with a mild surprise and a slight smile.
Madam may read her eyes, and to erase shadows from the confusing scenarios, she made it clear with a pinch of humorous.
My self Mita and Ma’am is Sumita, means “Su” with Mita, it definitely implies she is better to me.
Streams of laughter flew spontaneously and spread it’s sweet redolence through the compact air of that air conditioned room.
Mrs. Mita Patel is an educated lady, post graduate in the stream of commerce, during Sixties. But to take care of her family she had to choose the path of a house wife, ignoring all job offers. Now she is looking after the management of the hospital, as her husband, son, and daughter-in-law all are doctors and mostly they are always busy with patients.
Sumita was then much more comfortable with Mrs.and Mr. patel. She could not believe herself that she would get so much positive response with love from an elderly Doctor family, that to in a place, completely new to her and also with a difference of language and culture among them.
Now easily she was able to persuade to Mita Ma’am, who is around twenty years elder to her, for calling her by name only, as Sumita not Madam.
Among their conversations except Banking, other topics such as social, cultural…..were also rushed into. Mrs. Patel was very much pleased with her, patted on the back, and sent her staff for ice cream, to share happiness and to celebrate their first meeting.
She was very much happy with customer’s behavior and approach also. She could smell the essence of human relationship, over and above the business ambiance, and felt contemplated, asked herself- “ Is it Relationship Beyond Banking?”
A Tailor Bird, with ample hope, sewing leaves with it’s beak ,to make nest, cheered up on the nearby road side Peepal tree, when Sumita cherished with good bye, keeping a promise to meet once more shortly.
                                          ***********
