Raindrops & Roses

Raindrops & Roses

I went for a walk after a fight with my wife. Ten minutes into walking someone started to poke me at different places. It was rain. The poking started to gradually increase. Within the next five minutes, it started to rain heavily. I decided not to look for a roof. I sat there on the footpath and looked up at the sky. I could feel each and every droplet of rain being hit forcefully onto my skin. Five minutes later I sensed a comforting feel of the earthy smell. The cool breeze of the wind accompanied the smell of petrichor warmed my heart. I got drenched in the rain as I admired this evergreen beauty.

I saw a playground nearby and was curious to examine it. I sat on the swing and stared at the sky. Memories came floating into my mind. I remember the days where I used to play in the rain with my childhood friends. My wife was among the group of friends. After the rain got over she used to dry my hair to make sure that I don't get cold. Her mother used to prepare hot chocolate for us which was a perfect drink after rain made love to you.

After having some fun with the rain it waved me goodbye and his friend drizzle accompanied me for the rest of my journey. I was walking my way home when I noticed a roadside florist shop. The lady in the florist shop had a sheet of plastic placed above her shop to cover it from the rain. I stopped by to look at the beautiful roses. The sprinkles of water around the rose made it look even more stunning. I continued to walk and all of a sudden I smelled something very familiar to me. It was the aroma of hot chocolate. I wanted to meet this stranger who is responsible for this sweet smell which was lingering around the street. I followed the smell and it led me on to a path that I have seen before. I pursued the aroma and it led me to a door. The nameplate had my name on it.

Of course, it was my house. I opened the door and saw my wife waiting for me with a towel in her hand just like the old days. My hands were behind my back. As I took the hot chocolate in one hand I bent my knees and my other hand was raised up high holding rain-kissed roses.

The rain came into my life as a companion and made me a better man for my lady. The raindrops sprinkled upon me changed my thought process like magic. It squeezed out the ego and anger in me and filled with composure and love. Seven colours of light fell right onto our doorstep and then into our lives.
