This story involves when partition occurred in 1947 between India and Pakistan and after struggle East Pakistan how with the help of India defeated West Pakistani Army who surrended to Indian Army in 1971.

When partition occurred in 1947 anger bottled up in the hearts of People of East Pakistan.

Despite cultural differences that took place between two regions.      Pakistan Government became adamant to make Urdu language as the official state language.

Mohammad Ali Jinnah declared that “Let me make it very clear to you that there is no doubt that State Language of Pakistan is going to be Urdu and no other language.”

Even the Prime Miinister of Pakistan Khwaza NajuMuddin supported Urdu as the official state language.

After this decision Bengalis bottled up and protested for injustice.

Soon after all party Central Language Action committee protest was called off andSec144 was imposed to stop the protest.

Defying the police students teachers and people from all walks of life were seen protesting on the streets.

Dhaka University area was throbbed with unrest.

Police tremendously tried to stop protest but still students and everyone kept advancing towards assembly hall.

The police fired in Masses.

Salam Rafiq, Barkat, Jabbar and many other sacrificed their lives.

The language movement of 52 was start of Bengali Peoples struggle to establish their national Identity and built a foundation for the eventual war of liberation.

West Pakistan Muslim League had to face Bengalis United Front.

United front was combined with Maulana Bhashani’s Awami Muslim League and A.K. Fazul Haque’s Krishak Sramik League which was campaigned with 21 point election manifesto.

Voices were raised for the rights of Bengalis recognizing Bangla as a state language.

There was no room for compromises

United Front won by a Landslide and A.K. Fazlul Haque was called to form his cabinet.

Few months later Government was formed and new conspiracy began United Front was removed from power

Bengalis started raising their voices against this injustice.

Bengalis said , “ We cannot let Pakistan walk over us we must move towards emancipation.”

Constituent assembly was formed under Independence Act.

Responsibility was to establish the constitution and National assembly.

But again the constitution assembly proposal was cornered bythe Bengalis,

Pakistan were proclaimed to be an Islamic republic.

One Unit scheme left zero scope for East Pakistan’s autonomy.

The president was given power to deploy army in case of Supposed emergency situations.

Dissatisfaction rose among East Pakistan Bengali’s

0n 7th October 1958 President Iskander Mirza declares coup.

Martial law was implemented in East Pakistan and a new episode of injustice began and their sentiments were butt again when General Ayub Khan came into power.

The main source of Bengali political movements was its students population.

To stop them west Pakistan with the help of General Ayub Khan formed Sharif commission in the name of revamping education system

Sharif Commission formulated sweeping changes.

Students Politics was banned so as to stop students from starting movements.

School fees were increased so as the education becomes expensive

The scope for high education became limited with new rules and regulations

Course loads in schools and colleges were increased along with duration of degree courses so as the students drop out from the education system.       The students population rejected the new rules and erupted the protest by the general public.

In 1964 facing relentless protests.

Pakistan Government was forced to stop implementing Sharif commission policies.

This movement saw the people of East Pakistan taste another victory and took another step towards freedom.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman raised the 6 point demand in 1966 on a tour to Lahore.

The objective was to ensure the recognised autonomy of Bengalis.

The demands raised were forming a federal government following NationalAssembly policies

No intervention by Central Government was taken on internal matters of this region.

Two separate currency system was declared entirely for Pakistan.

Separate books for 2 pakistans when conducting two foreign businesses.

Formation of regional military force angered by 6 point demands

Pakistan Govt arrested Bangabandhu filing the Agarola conspiracy case.

In protest people across East Pakistan started demonstrations.

The 6 point demand movement lent renewed momentum to the Bengali’s struggle for an identity of their own and eventually the liberation war

Pakistans were worried by the Bengalis political activism.

West Pakistan arrested East Pakistan leaders on false charges.

Calling for their release students population erupted in protests.

Led by DACSU progressive students Unions came together to form student action committee.

The uprising of 1969 started with the demand of freeing the leaders and securing the rights of the working class people.

Pent up anger of the downtrodden turned into a movement of freedom.

The police opened fire to sop the procession, student leader Asad got killed

Asad’s death fuelled a fiery rage in the people of the country.

Attested in Agortola conspiracy case Sergeant Jahurlal Haque got killed in captivity on February 15

At the news of his death Maulana Bhashani addressed a crowd of hundreds of thousands of people.

He declared the cessation of tax payments if the leaders aren’t set free and 11 point demands are not fulfilled in two months.

18th February with the death of Rajshahi University Proctor Dr Shamuzzoha 

Angry student population defied the curfew and tooks to the streets

Pakistan Govt was forced to set the prisoners free unconditionally

Ayub Khan handed over Power to Yahya Khan as the 1970 election drew closer.


Bengalis started feeling that all their unmet economic poltical demand will finally be met.

Awami League won the 1970 election

But the rulers of  Pakistan refused to handover power.

Bangalibaabus thunderous voice called on people to fight for freedom.

Bengalis said "This time we fight for free.".                              This time we fight for Independence

Pakistan military forced harrassed Bengalis by entering East Pakistan.

On March 25 at 12 Am the genocide began

Women were violated humanity suffered the same fate.

Bengalis started fighting from March 26 for the people who were dreaming of new Bangladesh.

People resisted the enemy on whatever they had

Bengalis only one objective was independence of Bangladesh.

Temp Gov was formed on April 10

Defenceless Bengalis started fighting back .                        Pakistani military were sure that they will defeat Bengalis but their military started falling one by one.

Even the musicians joined the fight by singing melodies.

And also told the world about success of Bangladesh in the war.

The songs and poems brought the spirit of freedom in the minds of the people.

At the end of nine month long bloody war

The Pakistanis killed the brightest mind of the country.

Pakistan intiallly forces were forced to surrender at the race coursf on Dec 16, 1971.

With the blood of many matyrs

A new name was etched on the map of the world and India Won against Pakistan which created a History and now 16th December is declared as Victory Day.

That is how Bangladesh was formed

Bengalis struggle and political activism faith became fruitful who fought for their rights and against West Pakistan for injustice.

 West Pakistan had no other option but had to surrender.
