  Mir Usman Ali Khan, the last Tajdar of the Deccan Dynasty, was born in 1886. It was the largest Islamic state in the subcontinent, an independent state. Usman Ali Khan was the eldest son of the sixth Nizam Nawab Mahbub Ali Khan. His reign spanned from 1911 to 1948. He was called the Modern Architect of Hyderabad State. The credit of all these most important scientific and archeological achievements belongs to the head of the country and the nation, the benevolent human being, His Highness Sultan Ul-Uloom Mir Usman Ali Khan Nizam-ul-Mulk Asif Jah Seventh Khaldullah, King of the Deccan. During his tenure, crores of rupees were spent for the welfare of the country and on all these constructions, and in this short period of time, so much work was done that had not been done in centuries.


Museum of Archaeology:

  

The kingdom of Hyderabad was rich in archeology and in terms of its grandeur, no province in the subcontinent could match it. This museum of archeology building was built in 1930 by His Highness Mir Usman Ali Khan Asif Jah Sabeh. In this museum, an incalculable collection of ancient Chinese coins, paintings, masterpieces of stonework and pottery has been collected.

 

 The largest Court of Asafia kingdom is a rare example of modern architecture. The beautiful design and construction of this building was done by local engineer Mehr Ali Fazil. The construction work started on April 15, 1915 and was completed on March 31, 1919. It was inaugurated on April 20, 1920 by His Highness Mir Usman Ali Khan Asif Jah Sabeh. It is considered the most beautiful building of the subcontinent.


Jubilee Hall:

  The old plain (Hall) building of Durbar Hall was used by Nawab Mir Mehboob Ali Khan and Nawab Mir Usman Ali Khan Asif Jah Sabi during their reign. In 1937, on the occasion of the silver jubilee of His Highness Nawab Mir Usman Ali Khan, the magnificent building was demolished and rebuilt in the Hir Irani style. The main hall of this building highlights the Islamic architecture.

Osmania University is named after its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad who rather through a farman or Royal Charter, brought the University into existence in 1918. It is the seventh oldest in the Country and third oldest in South India

Falak Numa Palace:


Falak Numa palace Also referred to as the 'Mirror of the Sky', it is well known for its architecture and for housing the largest Venetian chandeliers. The Palace has 40 beautiful Venetian chandeliers and a wide and varied collection of rare paintings, furniture, manuscripts, and the best collection of Qurans in India and statues. 

Now acquired by Taj Falak Numa hotel. Labelled as the only 7-star hotel in India, the Taj Falaknuma Palace was built in 1884 and was once owned by the Nizam (ruler) of Hyderabad, who was the world's richest man at the time. 

The restaurant have cover charges costing INR 3500 per person(Mon-Thur) and INR 4000 per person on weekends.


Chowmahalla Palace:

Chowmahalla Palace, with literal meaning of 'four palaces' in Urdu language was built in the 18th century. It was during the reign of fifth Nizam, Afzar-ud-Daulah, Asaf Jav V, from 1857 to 1869, that the palace was completed.

Initially spread across an area of 45 acres, the palace now covers 12 acres of land. The palace has two courtyards – the northern courtyard and the southern courtyard.

The southern courtyard has four palaces which are Afzal Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, and Aftab Mahal. Out of these, Aftab Mahal is the biggest of all, with two storeys.


Khilwat Mubarak, the heart of the palace, Clock Tower, Council Hall and Roshan Bungalow are other worth visiting sections of it.It has been opened for public viewing since 2005.


Char Minar:

Also referred as the 'Arc de Triomphe of the East', Charminar is adorned with four towers in each corner. The minarets on each side, is of 48.7 m height, each with four storeys. Chaminar has a small mosque as well on the top floor. There are 45 prayer spaces which are still visited by people, particularly on Fridays. Lighting in the evening is quite glamorous and makes for a worth watching site.


Salar Jung Museum

At the banks of Musa River, Salar Jung Museum is located. With an impressive collection of 43000 art objects, 9000 manuscripts and 47000 printed books, it is considered to be one of the biggest one-man collections of the world.

This museum has 38 galleries with 20 galleries in 1st floor while the rest 18 galleries on the 2nd floor. In 1951, it was opened to public while in 1968 it was shifted to its current building.


The artifacts of the museums are primarily collected by Mir Yousuf Ali Khan (Salar Jung III) and Nawab Turab Ali Khan (Salar Jung I) along with a few of his descendants.

In 1918, King George V elevated Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Siddiqi Bahadur from "His Highness" to "His Exalted Highness". 

He died on: 24 February 1967; (aged 80); King Kothi Palace, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh,
