Mumbai Monsoons And Local Trains.

Whatever happens, we Mumbaikars are always blessed with good monsoons. Rains are broad and irregular, starting from June 2nd and last till the advent of our beloved Ganapati bappa.

Civic authorities are also under pressure to address the ailments that will occur from the first showers till the rains finally stop. All the safeguards and safety measures implemented by authorities are insufficient for the population that Mumbai and its suburbs supports.

Flooding is the first hazard we encounter after a fortnight of heavy rainfall, knocking Mumbaikars off guard. Traffic slows down and has a significant impact on local trains. A month of decent rains causes Mumbaikars to crawl to keep going. There isn't a single road left that isn't riddled with deep potholes. The blame game then ensues, as there appears to be little collaboration across departments. For at least the next three months, traffic pandemonium will be the new normal. Travel times are only doubled.

Frustrated, people abandon road travel in favour of faster commuting through local railroads. However, this introduces new challenges. Cattle class capacity on practically every route deteriorates further. This is accounted for by offices giving staggered office hours; nonetheless, the requirement to fulfil the required number of working hours per week remains. This flexibility in work hours remains a blessing for Mumbaikars.

The difficulty remains unmanageable crowds, which attract anti-social elements, pick pocketers in and around the platform, and coaches. Petty pickpockets had advanced and become cleverer by targeting mobile phone users. Their target audience is still commuters with high-end cell phones.

For the past 15 days or more, half of Mumbai has been inundated in water. All major roadways had knee-high water. The day was Friday, and there was a tangible desire to get home and spend quality time with family during the weekend. I took a local train from Thane station to CSMT. Sardarjee, a Mohammadi, and a Rajput developed an instant bond in my coach. This is like what we see in movies. They spoke slowly and had their gaze locked on a commuter, which I missed because I was in the front row, next to the window. The UP guy sprang out of his seat at the XYZ station, shouting chor chor, cell phone chor. Other passengers got concerned as well. Fortunately, the lifter dropped the phone and stood motionless.

An adjacent passenger lifted the phone, and amid the excitement, the alert mobile lifter attempted to slip. But the trio caught him and gripped him tightly. They also yelled, "Someone lost his phone, please check." Perhaps the clueless cell phone loser was unaware of his phone's disappearance.

It's worth noting that the patrolling RPF was on patrol and took both the mobile lifter and phone from the trio, leaving the train to move to its next stopover.

After the trio had taken their seats, described the entire incident. The trio had been keeping a careful eye on the Lifter since he boarded the train. As the cell phone was kept in the back pocket, this person was attempting to evaluate the impact with his target by physical contact. The group became certain that the guy will create trouble.

If basic thoughts prevail, the aggrieved party should contact the hotline numbers displayed.

Salute to the spirit of trio!
