An account of Child 1

My mother is the best one in the World. She purchases many toys, the latest designer clothes, and gadgets for me. She takes me to the Hotel every weekend when she has her day off. She works in XYZ Software Company and comes home late. But she always tucks me to bed at 10.30 p.m. She and my father have dinner only after my mother tucks me to sleep.

An account of Child 2

My parents work in a Match factory. My mother’s hands are always rough. She gets up early and starts preparing food. My father wakes me and my 4 siblings up after half an hour and all of us start getting ready for the day. My mother packs everybody’s lunch and all are out of the house by 8.30 a.m. Before she leaves, my mother has cooked, washed, cleaned the house and even finished with the utensils. My father does some gardening in the meantime (we grow and sell garden vegetables). We help too. My mother cooks our favorite dishes on Sundays. She takes us on vacation to visit our Grandparents once every year while my father stays back doing the gardening work. At such times she purchases some sweets and small toys available in the village shop.

 An account of Child 3

My mother is a single parent. She recently separated from my father who abused and beat her every day. She goes to work in a garment shop and manages to make ends meet. My Education expenses are borne by my maternal grandparents, but my mother is around me while doing my homework and preparing for exams.  She sometimes buys me small gifts like a new handkerchief or Bakery biscuits when she comes back home.

An account of Child 4

I am aged 16 and my Stepfather is harsh towards me. I have to do all the housework, now that I have failed in my 10th class exams. My mother likes my new step brother more and showers him with new clothes and all the Goodies. My own father lives in another country and does not write to me at all. Presently I am wondering how to re-stitch my already mega-patched Black pants as I own only two more pairs that are marginally better than the black one.

An account of Child 5

My mother is also the mother of seven other children. None of us are her biological kids. The Eight of us live in House NO.6 in the Survivors Village in the Old City. There are another six moms like her in our Village established by a Great Philanthropist of the City. My Mom is the best.

When I was quite small, she used to feed me and help me with my bath. She would also help me get into my secondhand but good quality clothes that some gracious children had donated to our Village. Now my mother is teaching us Tailoring and other special skills as the Summer vacation has begun. These skills will help me lead a normal life when I am out on my own at age 18.
