Minnie's Ring
Minnie's Ring
Raju, go to sleep. Tomorrow you have to get up early. Raju's mother rattled away her instructions. Raju said, " But Mama if Dida does not tell a story how can I sleep". Dida was Raju's grandmother. Dida had got Raju the habit of telling him stories to put him to sleep. So this had become a routine for him. And Dida 's stories did help Raju to sleep, how absurd the story may be.
So Dida started telling a story. She started by telling the story of Mickey the Mouse and his girlfriend Minnie. Last year Raju had gone to visit the Disney World theme park and there he saw them both. He took a fancy for both. Dida continued. Mickey was supposed to get married to Minnie. Previously Mickey had proposed to Minnie and today he would present Minnie with a ring. The ring would have a picture of Mickey so that Minnie would remember him when Mickey was not around. There was a celebration all around. Many guests had come to attend the engagement ceremony. After the engagement was done then both Mickey and Minnie would marry. Their dog Pluto would be the best man. Pluto was very excited. He was jumping and showing himself as very busy.
Raju was now dozing off and very soon he would be fast asleep. The story was going along slowly and Raju's sleep was coming faster. Mickey was about to put the ring on Minnie's finger when all of a sudden Pluto jumped in excitement. The ring fell down and Raju fell fast asleep. Dida stopped telling the story. The next morning when Raju was awoken by Mama then they found a ring beside the pillow. The ring had a picture of Mickey and Minnie together.
Mama asked where did this ring come from. Then Raju remembered the ring had fallen off Minnie's finger when Pluto had jumped up in excitement.
