Melancholy of life...

Melancholy of life...

The atmosphere is gloomy and daunting outside. The streets are rather empty and the shops are all closed. But there are still people who are roaming around like it’s nobody’s business. I don’t know if these people don’t understand what the government is saying or they simply think that this world wide pandemic is merely a joke.

Meme creators have used their platform questionably. Some have strongly advised viewers to stay safe while some have made jokes about the whole lockdown and quarantine situation being useless.

Numerous citizens have lost lives, their loved ones, uncountable stories have remained unfinished, things were left unsaid, businesses that people were once so so excited to start have shut down due to the economic crisis, confessions were yet to be made... and all we are dreaming about is vacations, birthday bashes, bridal and baby showers, fairs, and all the things in between. I understand that humans are social beings, but sometimes we just need to understand that being social can prove fatal for us and the people around!

I don’t remember the last time I gave my aunt a hug, or the last time I visited my cousin, neither the last time I hung out with the handful number of friends I have. But you know what? I’m fine with it.... I know there will be a day when this virus wouldn’t exist, when we would be able to freely move around, meet loved ones, party with friends, and I know for a fact that this will all be worth it then. Hope is a discipline and I am trying to practice everyday.... sure some days I do take a break but I quickly get back because loosing hope means loosing the courage to be and to get.

We follow influencers and film stars for a number of things; beauty, fashion, and various things beyond. But why are we not following the advises they put up on their social media and in interviews to stay at home and maintain social distance? Why can’t we join them in this effort to make the world free of this deadly virus? Why can’t we just stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary to go out? Can’t we just let people unite with their family one last time? Can’t we let these people say their final goodbyes? “Well how would WE do that?” would be someone’s question... and “just stay home.” would be the only answer. There are so many people who died this last year, not because of the virus but because they were terminally ill and the family couldn’t meet them one last time and tell them how much their presence was appreciated and how much their absence would break their hearts. They died lonely and depressed and that is not the way to leave the earth.

There is so much I want to say but that would be for some other time. This is neither a story nor an incident, it is a humble request and I hope from the bottom of my heart that it makes a difference. Maybe not a huge one, but I really hope it makes one...

Stay home, stay safe, stay blessed.
