She sat on the wooden bench, hands clasped together, heart pounding in anticipation. Two decades had passed, yet the mere thought of seeing him again sent a shiver down her spine. Would he recognize her? Would time have changed him beyond recall?

A soft breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers, intertwining with the nostalgia that filled the evening air. Suddenly, footsteps approached. She looked up—and there he was. His face, older yet familiar, held the same warmth she had longed for all these years.

Their eyes met, and time collapsed. The years apart, the distance, the silence—it all vanished in that single gaze. "You're here," he whispered, almost in disbelief.

Tears welled in her eyes as she nodded. "I’ve waited so long for this moment."

They walked side by side through the park, their laughter echoing in the twilight. They spoke of their childhood mischief, the dreams they had chased, and the lives they had built. Yet, beneath their words was an unspoken truth—they had always carried each other in their hearts.

He picked a flower and handed it to her, just as he used to when they were young. She smiled, accepting it with trembling fingers. "Do you remember the last time we were here?" she asked.

"How could I forget?" he replied. "We held hands and promised to meet again."

She reached for his hand, their fingers entwining effortlessly, as if no time had passed at all. But reality loomed—he had a flight to catch, a life waiting for him across the ocean.

As the night deepened, they stood in silence, memorizing each other’s presence, knowing this moment would have to last a lifetime.

"You’ll come back, won’t you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

He squeezed her hand. "I never truly left."

As he walked away, disappearing into the distance, she clutched the flower he had given her, a reminder that love, no matter the years or the miles, never really ends.

And so, she waited—just as she always had.
