Life Goal

Lord Buddha obtained Enlightenment and his parting message to his disciples: “Be a light unto yourself. ”Everyone is a light in the seed. It is not that we have to become buddhas; it is not a question of learning, of achieving. It is a question of going and seeing what is there. It is a self-discovery. We are always searching for some goals. The farther the goal, the more challenging it appears to the ego. The more difficult it is, the more attractive it appears. The ego exists through challenges; it wants to prove itself. It is not interested in the simple, it is not interested in the ordinary, it is not interested in the natural, it is interested in something which is neither natural, nor simple, nor ordinary. Its desire is for the extraordinary. And the reality is very ordinary, it is very simple. Nobody can do anything. Be a light unto yourself. Statement in the Upanishads, Aham brahmasmi, is perhaps the most fundamental and the most essential experience to be understood for awakening to realize full potential. Awakening provides total relaxation of body, followed by shutting off unnecessary external irrelevant thoughts and finally achieving an altered state of consciousness which allows us to concentrate on deeper inner levels to realize our life goal.
