Man has always tried and is still trying to find a breakthrough the mystery of Death, the final point of life. Over a period of time, he has devised ways and means to arrive at immortality through mythology, occult, medical science, and literature among other such areas. Though we as a race have not been able to arrive at any decisive conclusion till date, we know that our good works and our progeny can keep the memory of our existence alive for posterity to a large extent.

More recently, a Brazilian billionaire, worked on immortalization in a unique manner. Count Chiquinho Scarpa announced that he would bury his precious Bentley car worth five hundred thousand dollars in a week’s time to ensure a comfortable afterlife quite on the lines of the Egyptian Pharaohs. There was mixed reaction among the public. While some appreciated his eccentric action, most people thought that the man was foolhardy. They put it down to the quirkiness because he happened to be a childless billionaire, quite at a loss about how to leave his large legacy behind. Many people gathered their courage to approach the wealthy man and gave him endless advice about how the money could be put to good use and step up the quality of life. Scarpa seemed to enjoy all the attention. It only made him more tenacious about his decision. As the countdown began, he ensured that the public following him got regular updates about the process of the intended burial.

On the red lettered day, it was announced that the event marked the opening of "National Organ Donation Week." Scarpa's stunt turned out to be the launching pad of an organ donation campaign. The affluent man declared with aplomb "I didn't bury my car, but everyone thought it absurd when I said I would," he said. "What's absurd is burying your organs, which can save many lives. Nothing is more valuable. Be a donor and tell your family."

Scarpa had just immortalized himself by subscribing to a potent medical idea of organ transplant. His little drama which captured the attention of the people also managed to implant the importance of organ donation amongst his followers. In other words, the count reiterated the message that one can continue to live after death, as functioning organs in several people.
