A teary-eyed, 40 years old man, Dinesh arrived at the police station and informed that his wife had set herself ablaze. Police lodged his FIR and went with him to his home. It was nearly 1 pm on the clock and the society was empty, Dinesh told them that at these hours mostly everyone is at their workplace. Only he used to come home to have lunch someday. Dinesh works as a security guard in a nearby residential building.

Police looked out for everything at his home. Dinesh was sobbing continuously.

Police enquired Dinesh about the reason for her suicide. Dinesh told them that she was very depressed as since many years of their marriage they never had a child. They both used to fight. That day also when Dinesh came home for lunch, his wife Sudha started fighting with him. She was accusing him of their poor lifestyle and shortage of money. The fight grew big, and Dinesh told her to file a divorce if she was so unhappy. On that Sudha said she will commit suicide and Dinesh had to spend his life in jail. She then went inside the kitchen and locked the door from inside and pour kerosene oil on herself and set fire. Dinesh tried to save her, but it was too late and then he ran to inform the police station.

Police registered everything and collected evidence and sent the body for post-mortem and left.

Dinesh called his in-laws and informed them too.

After 7 hours of this incident, Sudha's father filed an FIR against his son-in-law and accused him, the murderer of his daughter.

Then the police went to talk to Dinesh's neighbors. Everyone told them that they used to fight but they could never think of Sudha could attempt suicide. She was not happy but not that much depressed to attempt suicide that too by burning herself. But also no one said anything against Dinesh.

Police got no clue of murder and also no strong clue of suicide.

They enquired about Sudha's family. According to them as both Sudha and Dinesh used to fight and sometimes Dinesh would slap her too.

But that does not mean he could kill someone, especially his wife.

Police went through call records of Sudha and Dinesh's contact numbers. Nothing was questionable.

No extramarital affair.

No revenge history.

No criminal record.

Then police enquired at Dinesh's workplace. He was not the only guard there. A total of 4 guards were working there and the police talked to each.

One of them said," Dinesh was a nice man. He was a little short temper but a good person and he used to work for money too. People used to give him their small tasks like bringing something, sending something to another place, and paying him for that. For the money, he would travel to other cities on Sundays. The previous Monday also he traveled to another city which was 4 hours away from their city, to perform the post-death rituals of someone and flow ashes in the river. He told us that someone was paying a good amount for that task."

It was a rare case of performing this kind of ritual for someone else. Which family does this? Why would someone hire another person for such a task?

Police enquired about Dinesh for 1week and kept him in their remand.

After 1week what Dinesh revealed, was a different story involving the biggest fraud.

"Yessss!!!, I killed Sudha. I was told to do that. She came to know, the truth behind the post-death rituals done by me. She listened to me on one call. She was forcing me to tell the truth about this task and I was refusing to tell her. Then one day she listened all, and they asked me to kill her otherwise she could be a troublemaker," said Dinesh while sobbing.

"Who are they for whom you killed your wife and whose ashes were that? Why they gave you this task?" asked the policeman.

"Sir, I just know that it was the body of some 60-year-old man and he was murdered by them."

"Them??"

"Sir, his name is Mahavir. He told me to do this and offered me 50,000rs. I needed money so I did their task. If my wife had not been suspicious, then we would be living a good life by now." Dinesh started crying.

"Give the contact number of Mahavir," asked the policeman.

"I will give you his number, but he must have thrown his sim card till now", said Dinesh

"That's our work. Can you describe his looks?"

Police looked for the number, as expected that was showing switched off. Police also checked old records for this name in their area.

Details of the contact number were fake. They also checked any FIR lodged against missing or murdered persons around 60years of age.

There was an FIR against a missing person at another police station which looked matching.

Police talked to their family members. They said, their father Vimal called them 15 days back saying that he had got some big work and he would earn big money, so he would come after a few days. But he never came. He went missing on that day.

Police gave a picture of Mahavir made by the artist, in a newspaper. The case was at a dead end now.

After 2days, one person called and said that he knows Mahavir. He was asked to come to the police station. He told to police that Mahavir was his friend once. He saw Mahavir yesterday around his Paan Stall. He told the police about Mahavir's address.

Police went to his home and luckily caught him too.

Mahavir was enquired at a very terrific level.

Then he told all the truth.

The story starts with Raman, a property dealer. He saw a place that was about 14-15 crores worth. He found out that, that property was registered in the name of some Mohan and there is no news of his whereabouts. So, he thought that it would be a fit case for cheating. So, for executing his plan he called in his friends and also some small realtors.

"Then we found one person who could make fake documents of fake Mohan who was nearly 90 years old and also made a will of Mohan saying he had transferred rights of land to Raman, then we submitted the documents in the sub-registrar office.

Now the first step was done, for the next step we need a dead body and the death certificate of Mohan.

For that purpose, we approached a 60years old poor man at the bus stop and convinced him that we would get him a good-paying job, more than what he was earning then.

That old man Vimal agreed and then we took him to our city and gave him a lot of tablets of loose motion and the next day he got dead due to dehydration. We had already convinced a doctor who would make a fake death certificate for this man in the name of Mohan.

All went well, we got that land and then we burnt that dead body, and to perform his post-death rituals we hired Dinesh. We thought everything is done and Dinesh will do our work and we will pay him. We did that all. But Dinesh's wife Sudha came to know all so we told him to kill her. "detailed by Mohan

Police arrested all other people included in this fraud and murders, including a fake document-making lawyer and doctor.

How much planned maybe the crime is..the truth will find its way to come out.
