Journey In The Gloomy World
Journey In The Gloomy World
Born in the colourful, with normal eyes to see the colours and the beauties of nature, in a small hamlet of District Anantnag, Andoora. Fraternal twins, Tariq Bashir and Farooq Bashir. The hamlet sat on a hilly area, dominated by Paharis, held up by some 2000 of population and surrounded by breathtaking forests, where people still wait hours to board a sumo. Earlier transport was just a crowded bus that boarded twice a day. Once in the morning and returned back in the evening. After the bus was full, passengers were asked to travel on the roof of the bus which was a calculated risk. The same was the case with the rest of Kashmir. Most of the people were ignorant, and lived in the dark with their livestock, that was what the people were dependent on and the dung was found at every step on the unpaved roads.
Tariq Bashir was born a normal child. With normal eyes to read the words in the virtuous voice of his childhood, to walk on the unpaved roads with modest steps and reach the Middle school, the only place of light in the hamlet. The mischievous boy in his class 4th suffers an arm fracture. The treatment affects his vision and it is finally declared that he is suffering from an eye disease.
Filled with a great desire to read, an ambition to do something, and a passion to achieve heights, the boy continues his studies. With the help of his twin brother and with the support of his parents, he passes the class 11th. But circumstances did not cooperate. His sight was almost 80% lost and he had to drop out of his studies. He lives between the four walls for seven years with his best friend, Radio. Once he listens to a talk show on the Radio, a story of a visually challenged Master of Arts. He was inspired and discussed it with his parents. After a break for seven years, he resumes his studies.
With the help of a scribe writer, he completes his graduation. His father would teach him in the morning and he would record the lesson in the Type recorder. Having no power to read, he would listen to the Type recorder. The same was the case in school and college. He would record the lectures. After completing his graduation he did the Post Graduation. His friends at the University would read books to him and he would listen to them. This was his routine. Then he tops the MPhil and gets selected as a Teacher. Later he qualifies for the Lecturer post, qualifies for the NET, and SET and then qualifies for the Assistant professor post. Now he is about to complete his PhD.
