DISOBEDIENT WIFE

A beautiful and arrogant woman Aneesah, disobedient and idiotic wife of Baqloom. Baqloom 

was very poor. He worked in people's homes. In return people used to give him some food and 

money. They lived with great difficulty. Every day when he returned home his wife used to beat 

him. He used to bring a bag every day filled with some food and she used to snatch the bag from 

his hand. She was acclimated to beat him. He was totally under her thumb. The more lenient he 

was to him the more rude she growed. She would not let him stay at home even when there 

was no work. He was tired of his wife now.

 One day he went to work and wife said ‘’ the wife said not to return without wood”. This 

evening her husband returned too late bearing in his hand a large bag than the other days and 

wood on his back. Aneesah brightened up on seeing this bag and said ‘’ what is in the bag? Why 

is it big today?” He said ‘’ a magician gave me a snake to keep as he went somewhere. Instead 

he will give me a gift tomorrow.” He took a syrup bottle out of his pocket and said “we have to 

sprinkle this syrup in a basket and this snake will get into it.” She slapped her husband and said 

“ just hold your tongue and don’t make lame excuses. Oh! You are planning to fool me and 

enjoy yourself. Give me this bag?” He forbade but she did not agree. He said “ you will repent 

later.” She slapped him again so hard that his teeth came out.

He cried and persuaded his wife but still she did not agree. He promised to show her later. She slapped him again and said “  you will escape before that.” He said “ if I had any intention of fleeing then I would never prefer  to return home.” She again slapped him and said “ you couldn’t escape during night so you  returned home.” She snatched the bag quickly and went into another room and locked it from  inside. As soon as she opened the bag, a snake scurried came out and jumped into her head.  She pleaded her husband to save him but he couldn’t do anything. Snake killed him badly on 

the spot. Next day Baqloom handed over the snake to magician and received a beautiful gift. 

Then he became a rich man and lived a luxurious life.
