Jeron - The Sparrow

Jeron is a hard-working small little sparrow, he works hard to achieve something that he has set his mind to. Some used to say he was an odd egg out of the bunch and it never bother him much. He always thought of himself as a unique special bird.

It was morning, like any other day, all the birds flew over miles and miles to gather food. Jeron didn't go, he was busy gathering sticks and twigs to build a strong nest for his family. He was a visionary, he wanted to make sure his family's future is safe even after he is gone.

After a lot of counseling and interventions by other neighboring birds, Jeron shared his idea with other sparrows and told them that he is looking to build a strong nest up above the dragon tree. He insisted others join him in building this nest. He tried explaining to them the benefits of building a nest on such a tall tree. Unfortunately, all the other birds suggested he should not fly too close to the sun and rather stick to the traditions and rules that have been laid out by the ancestors. This lack of belief by others didn't break Jeron's spirit, he was very sure about his plan and his vision.

Jeron after working very hard managed to collect enough good quality sticks and twigs for his nest. All this effort from Jeron's side was not enough to build a nest up there. Dragon trees were very tall trees, with no branches in between, it had all the branches tilted upwards towards the sun like an inverted crown, at the very top of the tree.

Jeron has been up there, at the top of the tree, many times. It was a very secure place for small birds. However, the only difficulty he had in front of him, was to carry these sticks up till the top and because of him being a small bird, it was physically impossible for him to fly up to that altitude and build his nest.

Since Jeron belonged to a small bird species, no one actually believed his vision or helped him in anyways. Jeron accepted the fact that he really needs support now. All his efforts to carry those sticks have failed.

Jeron, even a small bird, was a tough bird. He refused to give up and he realized that sometimes when you are trying to create something big, you would have to collaborate with others.

Jeron, understood the importance of collaboration pretty soon when he started talking to big birds. Big birds were very kind and welcoming to him. Because they saw what no one else could, they saw Jeron's big heart, his hunger to succeed. They appreciated his vision and agreed to help him on certain conditions which were agreeable to Jeron.

Big birds helped him carry those sticks and build his nest. Jeron shifted his family to the top. They were amongst the big birds now and much secure from other predators. According to the terms, he agreed with the big birds, he would have to help them hunt the prey for their family for a limited period of time. Jeron successfully completed his part of the bargain and now sleeps at night worry-free with his family with zero fear.

The majority of the small bird species believed that he got lucky, some believed that he was a bit odd and that is why he could take such a risk. A bunch of small birds came to Jeron and asked him to help them as well to build a nest up there. Jeron guided them throughout the process and also informed them about the importance of hard, collaboration, and seeking support when it is necessary.
