Into Darkness A Vampire’s Tale

Chapter Three 

I was in the kitchen of our home when Helios walked in. 

"Come Erin. It is time to show you how to feed." 

"Feed?"

"Come with me." He leads me to the bad side of London. We walked down the long dark alleyways and came upon a drunk man sitting unconscious on the ground next to a pub. Helios walked over to the man and grabbed him by the collar, lifting him up with no effort whatsoever. He drew his fangs and bit down harshly upon the man's throat. I watched in horror as he drank the man's blood slowly. 

Afterward, he let go of the man's collar and he dropped to the ground with a loud thud.

"Is... is he... dead?" I asked looking at the man.

"No. He's just going to be very weak for a while."

"What have you done?"

"You must feed Erin. Come we will find one for you." I looked at him and shook my head.

"No. I'll never be like you." 

"You will have no choice. You will have to feed sooner or later. You won't be able to resist for long. The pain will get the better of you. It may take a while, but I am a very patient man Erin. I can wait forever. And sooner or later you will give in." I backed away shaking my head in horror and resentment. I ran off as fast as I could. Where I was going I did not know, but I had to get as far away from him as possible. 

Hours later I began to feel dizzy and my heart began to pound. A Vampire's heart does beat, but only slightly. I found myself walking down a long alleyway. Then it began to rain. I went under a platform to get out of the rain. I sat down huddling up against the wall and began to cry. I then felt my heart quicken and then the pain began. Dull at first but then it slowly progressed. The pain became unbearable and I found myself on the ground in the fetal position moaning in pain. 

"Erin..." I heard a voice say. 

"Here." It was Helios. He helped me sit up.

"How... d... did... you...fi... find me?" 

"We've connected Erin. I could find you anywhere." I was now shaking uncontrollably from the pain. 

"What's happening to me?"

"You're dying. You need to feed Erin." I then smelled blood. His blood. 

"Here. Drink." I didn't hesitate. I grabbed his wrist and began to drink. Soon the pain subsided. I took my lips away and sighed in relief. 

"Better?" I looked up at him.

"What did you do to me?"

"I gave you a new life. A life of purpose and no regret."

"Why? Why me?"

"Because I like you, Erin. You're different. I can't place it, but you're unique. You're one of a kind I think. And you deserve better than what you've had." I looked down and tears began to blur my vision. 

"Come. Let's go home. I have something for you." He helped me to my feet and we headed back to the house.
