Independence Day

Not everything can be expressed in words. My eyes glisten with pride to see the glory of our nation. Today, we live in peace because of those who struggled in the past. The freedoms fighters wore no cape, yet they are the real heroes. Some of the great leaders are Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Lala Lajpat Rai, Chandrashekhar Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. They fought against British rule, to save our country’s future, without caring for their lives. This year, we are celebrating the 73rd year of independence. Over the years, we have developed in the fields of trade, infrastructure, education, and healthcare. In my opinion, India can become self-reliant only if it starts strengthening its domestic markets. Buying imported goods is a hurdle in the growth of our economy. We should encourage people to buy Indian products. This will also boost the small scale industries. One of the greatest leaders, Mahatma Gandhi advocated handloom weaving, which is Khadi, and the use of Swadeshi products. Another step towards a self-reliant nation would be ending all forms of discrimination, as argued by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Truly said, if we want our country to progress, we should follow the footsteps of such visionary leaders.
