How I proposed to my Girlfriend.

My super girlfriend.

To be honest, I didn't have any interest in writing. My girlfriend made me a writer, and now in every cell of my brain, there are interesting stories to tell this whole world.

It's Subodh, yes, my name is Subodh, which she never liked. She would always suggest me to change my name from Subodh to Prince. I didn't know why she hated my name Subodh and why she loved the name Prince, The English name by the way, sounds magical, and the meaning is something like "A son of a king," it's "Rajkumar" If I can say it in Hindi, which can never be fulfilled.

Why should I keep a name that doesn't make any sense from my perspective? And it doesn't even suit my personality.

Well, I was completely aware of the meaning of my name, Subodh, which means "easily understood" or "an intelligent guy." I am still not 100% sure of the meaning of my name. I found it on Google BABA. To be honest, I was, I am, and I will always be an intelligent and good boy. I am not boasting. I am the guy who topped the school, college, and university as well and got a well-paying job, But I had to sacrifice most of my fun. I didn't have a girlfriend until I joined my office. I was a bookworm, a self-help bookworm, in which I learned how to be disciplined, stay focused on my goal, and not distract myself under any circumstances. I followed everything I read in those books, and my whole brain was filled with career guidance, such as how to achieve excellence in a particular subject and how to achieve anything one wants.

In the books, they never taught me how to make a girlfriend or get into relationships. I never thought about it. I won 33 coding competitions during my college days. To be honest, many girls and guys tried their luck with me to be my friend so they could benefit from my extraordinary coding skills, but I was a stupid guy. I didn't have any interest in making friends because of the overdose of motivational content that I used to consume through Dream magazine. Those motivational pieces never let me think about anything else but my coding career.

I was terrible at three things: Spoken English, communication skills, and, of course, my social skills. I was weak in those areas because of my introverted nature. I hardly used to speak, maybe around 200 sentences a day. Those 200 sentences were usually to ask questions to clear my doubts during classes. My laptop was everything to me. I never attended any party or hung out with any friends. By the way, I had just one friend in college, and he was no different from me. Now he lives in the USA with his Gori wife, living a busy and lavish dream life. There's a different story about that.

The books' authors taught me to focus on only one thing to master, just one thing which I loved. My first love and girlfriend were coding, just coding, and my first friend was my laptop. I fixed many bugs for multiple multinational companies during my internship at... I think it's better to keep the organization's name secret.

Anyway, now coming back to the business, my super girlfriend's story. I met her on the first day of the office. I was assigned as her assistant for a week. I felt something very different when I shook my hand with her. There were thousands of girls in college, but I never felt anything for any of them. My heartbeat raced, and I felt something that made me keep looking at her. You must have heard that couples are made in heaven; I believe that since that day. I felt like I should talk to her as much as possible, and get to know her as much as possible; all was happening subconsciously.

She was 25 back then in 2018. Her name is Aarushi, a stylish girl, a self-lover, a fitness freak, 5.8 tall with a slim figure. Even today, she mostly wears jeans and a loose black T-shirt. Black is her most favourite colour. She keeps her hair always open, and her dark eyes and smile with dimples on her cheeks can intoxicate any man in the world. She doesn't like to wear makeup, not even lipstick. By the way, she doesn't need any makeup; her lips are naturally red like a Kashmiri apple. She already looks better than almost all the film actresses in the world. I know I'm being pathetic here. I'm not supposed to compare, but I just want to let you know how stunning she is.

Unlike everybody in this world, she also has a weakness. She is a talkative girl; she speaks and laughs more than she should. But the best thing about her is she is clean-hearted. She can't help herself being honest all the time, which is not necessary at all in this modern world.

Anyway, she gave me some demo tasks to perform on my laptop. I didn't have a desk by then, so she asked me to work at her desk until she arranged one for me. I noticed two things unique on her desk: her parents' picture in a golden frame, Lord Krishna's statue.

I completed the task within 30 minutes, which she thought would take me half a day. She was mesmerized by my demo performance. I worked in her team as an assistant for a week, and she asked her boss to keep me in her team permanently. We were like-minded, apart from being extroverted and introverted. We became friends within a week. She got promoted to project manager just three months after I joined the company, thanks to the extraordinary delivery of the project. We delivered a three-month project within a month, and I got promoted as a team leader and seiner coder, the organisation also hiked my salary by 50% which was already a lot.

I was an introvert, and she was an extrovert. My reculsive personality made me a good listener, and she needed someone who could listen to her all day. She kept sharing her past life, future dreams, and the current situation. She was no different from me; she too was a bookworm. She had read almost all the books I had read over the years. She too never thought about anything else but her academic excellence and career. She had joined the organization just three months before I did. She would always tell me that her office work used to be boring before I joined her team. She was the only one who was an expert coder. We both were against government jobs and surprisingly, we both had the same reasons. It doesn't allow us to live our lives on our terms and the growth opportunities are very limited. Those reasons we had were from the same book and the same paragraph that had influenced both of us. Everything was going perfectly. We had well-paying jobs and two days off a week.

AFTER 6 MONTHS

One fine day, we were in a cafe having coffee, and all of a sudden, the conversation shifted from business to our relationship. We both knew that we were single, but she said something that created turbulence in my whole body, mostly in my heart, something I never ever expected from her.

"I have been seeing someone for the last one month. I think he is a perfect person for me."

I laughed in disbelief. How could I believe her? She was more than a friend to me by then. We had talked about everything we liked and disliked.

"Why are you laughing? I am serious."

"I know you are not."

"No, I am."

"Why did you hide this from me?"

"I didn't feel like sharing with you, and by the way, it's my personal space."

"Fuck your personal space? We have been friends for the last 10 months and 7 days, and you can't even share this with me? Well, goodbye," I said and left the coffee shop. She followed me to the parking.

"Hey Subu, listen to me, Subu, listen to me, yarrr."

I got in the car and left without even looking at her. My ego had taken over me.

"She doesn't trust you, Subu, She used you, stupid. She used you," my mind was scolding me.

I blocked her on WhatsApp, and her contacts as well, without any second thoughts. I didn't go to the office the next day. I spent the whole day watching movies. The doorbell of my apartment rang around 6 in the evening. When I opened the door, she was standing there with a bouquet of flowers with "Sorry" written on a white card attached to the flower. She came in, sat on a sofa, muted the TV, and asked.

"Why didn't you go to the office today? You have blocked me on WhatsApp, and my contacts too, why?"

"Because I don't know you anymore."

"How?"

"You have been seeing someone for one month, and I am stupid here, don't know anything."

She laughed loudly.

"Subu, it was a joke. You suddenly got angry and left the coffee shop. I told you that it was a joke, but you didn't listen to me."

"I don't know how to say good words. I am terrible in this area. It hurt me very badly when you said it. I don't know anything. I love you."

"What? Are you sure? You are joking, right?"

"I don't like joking. I told you I love you, that's all."

She walked up to me wrapped her hand around me and sealed my lips with hers. She was my boss, friend, girlfriend, and now she is my wife.

THE END
