This is a story of a girl named Navya. She lived in a village called Telangana. She was a daughter of Rajendran who was a poor farmer. Rajendran had 3 boys apart from Navya.Being eldest of the four she always used to take care of her family. Her village people were very orthodox and always used to divert his father's mind by saying “Girls should be kept at home and taught household work”. But Rajendran never used to listen them. When his first daughter Navya was born, he decided to educate her. He admitted her in the Bal wadi(primary) school in their village. Teachers of Bal wadi were very fond of Navya. She was the only girl student who was ever admitted in her village. The boys in the school used to tease her and make fun of her,but she never bothered about it. In village Panchayat on many occasions her father was humiliated and was asked to remove her from school but her father doesn't bother and let her studies continued. They even withheld him away from gram panchayat. They even threatened to kill his daughter. There was a big village near Telangana where Rajendran complained about the situation in Panchayat. Some government officials were appointed for him and his daughter’s protection. Looking at this Navya once asked her father "why only questions are raised on her studies and why not on her brothers who don’t even study well”. Father replied "My love you don’t worry and don’t listen to anyone”. She continued studying and completed her high school. As village didn’t had facility of college, she was sent to city college in Hyderabad. Panchayat team always envied her and wanted to set an example for the village so that no one ever dare to make their girl study. As the government official were on Rajendran’s side they could not stop Navya's study, Years passed and Navya grew up and took admission in Biotech Fertilizer so that she could help her father in farming. She was happy studying in the city. It was month of may when her vacations started and she came to the village. Government officials were on leave to their village. Rajendran also had to go out to buy some seeds to the city. Panchayat team being aware of this situation that Navya was alone thought to teach Rajendran a lesson. Entire 10 men team came to Navya's house. They called her out and started talking causally later one of them asked that Navya "won’t you make us drink tea we have come to your house" so she replied sure I will, keeping the door opened she went inside the house and so the 10 men. One man pulled her down, other took 4 caught her from her legs and hand not letting her flee and made her lie on the bed and one by one all 10 men raped her. She screamed and shouted but no one came to rescue her. Even the women in village didn’t come to help after hearing her shout. They were so human after raping her they cut her body parts into pieces and put it in a gunny bag. After 2 days Rajendran returned and at his door step was kept a gunny bag with a message, “A gift from the Panchayat”. He already had sensed that there is something wrong but when opened the bag and saw the pieces he was jaw struck and fell on the ground and died. Now in Telangana village Navya's picture is hanged on the wall and are giving examples that if ever in the village someone tries to make their daughter educated then same thing is going to happen what happened to Navya.
The picture of Navya which hanging on the village wall has many questions like why girls are not allowed to study? Why girls are treated as door mat? Why they can’t move ahead then boys? Why rape is the easiest way to suppress a girl? Why girls are not given equality? Why nation is still lagging behind and unable to take this myth out. There would be many Navya's who must have given their life’s when there would be an end. When nation will stop burning candles for the girls, when political parties will stop making an issue. When will a girl get freedom, when a girl will take a relief of breath? Navya doesn’t wants a candle nor it wants sympathy. Navya wants equality for girls and wants to punish those boys who try to take advantage and hang them to death. Then only Navya's soul or any other girl like Navya will get a relieve.
