Gratitude

Gratitude

The night was dark and stormy and I was hiding in my hole. I had desperately wanted to go out in the fast blowing wind outside. And enjoy that breeze gently touching my skin.

The night had seemed to be scary. The trees had lost their leaves and the poles were falling down detaching from the ground. But Here, I was lost in my own little world, safe in my house.

From the window, I had noticed a big figure, coming my way. It was a human figure from what my parents have told me. I saw It was losing its balance again and again as it was seeming to be injured.

It had broad shoulders, a small mustache & a heavy beard, and from what my mother has told me I recognized that he was a man. In fact, he was my man.

I hurriedly rushed out of the door, jumping out from the windowpane where I had been sitting, and reached the entrance of the house where he had fallen down, almost unconscious. I went near him and sat there trying to figure out what had happened.

I saw that he was having difficulty in breathing. I had tried to wake him up, but he was getting terrible with each passing moment. I had remembered that he was not well for the past many days, but still, he refused to see a doctor or stop going out.

Going out, well, it had to be something with that, as it is strictly told to stay inside the houses. I had not been able to figure out why and what’s wrong, but it was just as it is.

While I was lost, I saw him speaking something to me. Maybe he had a last wish for me?

I bent down trying to hear him, and heard him say to me-

“Don’t ever forget to show your gratitude to the ones who deserve it, and always try to follow what is good for you and others, instead of being arrogant.

Maybe not for you but at least for others.

Here, I breathe my last, leaving you my world, had I been a little kinder, then this world deserves.

Thank all that which comes in your might, and never forget who is there which keeps you alright.

This phase is something that will pass someday, but always remember the ones who are fighting today, making it possible for you to see that day.

They risk their lives so that you can live alive, making this world a better place, for which they are saving every life.

Stay inside, and save your life, along with one, who is with you, connected with your might.”

I saw him dying that time, but I was too small that time to understand what he meant to me that night. But today, when the sun is shining above my head and the new life is starting after that phase, I know what those words had for me. And How hard he wished that day to

Thank each one for fighting out there at every phase with all of their might.

Coming out of my memory, I slowly opened my eyes, and moved ahead, with a heart filled with gratitude, thanking every single soul, for saving my life.
