Girl you are born to die?
Girl you are born to die?
This is a story that reflects the lives of many girls who are born to die. In a village in Rajasthan, a lovely little doll was born, and her family was overjoyed with her arrival. They showered her with love, and as she grew, she was sent to the city for her education, where she excelled. She fell in love with a boy from the city and got married, and at first, everything seemed good in their life together.
But one day, her husband, in a fit of anger, hit her. She cried a lot, and even though the fight didn’t seem to end, it escalated to a point where she suffered injuries and tragically fell from the balcony, leading to her death. When I heard about this from the villagers, I felt deep sorrow, but it also made me realize how people's mentalities have shifted over time.
Earlier, daughters were aborted in the womb, and when that was opposed, violence against women surfaced in another way. At first, families restricted girls' education to keep them from learning, and when those issues were addressed, they began to abuse their wives, burn them for dowries, and commit acid attacks if they didn't agree to marry. Yes, if they agreed, they endured violence.
Seeing all this made me feel like someone is destined to lose their life at some point, whether at birth, during education, or after marriage. The method has changed, but the mindset hasn’t. As a girl, I wonder—will I survive? Is a girl truly born to die?
