Future for Us

Future for Us

‘Future is a mystery that is solved by our actions in the present and hints from the past.’

Humans have always been the key components of nature that have caused a lot of destruction over the course of time. Humans have always tried to evolve. To develop things to make life easier for them. In the quest to gain technological development we have hurt the environment.

But it's not that we are inconsiderate about nature. We do care about mother nature; every devastating news earns our sad shake of heads or an exclamation of horror. Then we get back to work and end up wasting half a bucket of water while brushing our teeth.

The problem with us is that we worry about nature and not work for it.

We are fine by giving a thumbs up on ‘Save the Environment’ post on Social Media but our ego is hurt if we throw a wrapper in the dustbin.

Before throwing the wrapper out of a moving vehicle we do not even consider it’s repercussions. Some of us don’t even worry about a bit of wrapper. Others think, ‘So, what if I throw one wrapper in the bin, it won’t save the environment.’

True it will not save the environment but it would stop it from ruining any further.

Trip…trip…trip… the water leaks down the tap. It isn’t even a sweet music then why are you sitting there and enjoying listening to it. Instead, you should go and close it off properly.

“Time, space, reality it's more than a linear path. It’s a prism of endless possibilities where a single choice can branch out into infinite realities.” The Watcher's statement is true for even our life.

Even our choices determine our realities, our future. The world is changing constantly. By the time you would have reached the end of this article our world would have changed a bit.

Little by little it will transform and after a jump of a few years it will be altogether a different place. In 2010, We couldn't predict a killer virus in 2020 but our actions in the past are what really brought about this virus.

We harmed nature, pushed it to a limit, to its breaking point. So, nature hurt us back. We sat quietly for a year but then we are back to routine.

Sometimes, unknowingly we end up harming nature. How many of you wash your cars with open pipes? Without realizing that you are draining the 0.01% fresh water available to us.

Have you burned a firecracker on any occasion without realizing that the splendid array of colored sparks in the sky are actually draggers for mother nature?

Littering the street with plastic bags, to avoid walking a few steps to the bin or carrying the litter home. This action leads to soil degradation.

I know, we need roads for faster movements so we have cut down lots and lots of trees. We require factories so air pollution by them is a bonus. Pesticides are required by the crops to grow quickly so they need to go in the soil.

There would be degradation until we are there on earth but at least we can stop the useless wastage of resources.

If you find a bucket full of coins tomorrow, are you just going to spill it on the road? No, you are going to save it.

Then why not think of it like a water bucket. Each drop of water is even more precious than that gold coin.

Save it, don’t keep spilling buckets and buckets to mop the floors, use minimal water for cleaning. Don’t use open pipes to wash the veranda every day. Keep it on a weekly basis.

Clean your car with just a cloth, rub off the dust and use water only when required.

Make a habit of carrying a bag to fill in your garbage while traveling.

Try making compost instead of burning off dry leaves on the sidewalk. They are useful in the soil and not out in the air as smoke.

Why am I suddenly sharing such preventive measures with you? Because, I do not want the future earth to be a former husk of itself. I want it to be green, lively and beautiful forever.

We stand on a crossroad; the way forward defines our future. Yes, we have the chance to make the right choices to correct our mistakes.

We do not know what will happen 20 years later, we do not even know what tomorrow will hold for us.

What if…? There is a meteor collision at night and we do not get to see the morning, yet we do prepare for the next day. Because in our hands, we can only prepare and work. The result will reach us.

We can go on repeating our mistakes and cause our own extinction before the 22nd Century. Or, prevent this from happening.

The way we are developing technology nowadays, robots might be a common trend by 2050.

I don't know about you but A.I. for me appears to be a bit scary. A.I.’s uncanny ability to sum up your interest using your search history. Sometimes it knows more about your family than you yourself.

But we can't go back to the olden days without technology so we are adapting to A.I. Trusting it to hold our secrets.

Will the future witness an attack by A.I. ? Well, this scenario seems more possible than an alien invasion.

Somehow humans are always excited to meet aliens whereas we have no consideration of other species living on earth beside us.

Yes we have made charts for them, ‘Critically endangered species, Endangered species, Vulnerable, near threatened’ and so on but the column for Extinct species is filling up quickly.

What will we do with the aliens even if they come here? Probably send them also to extinction. Maybe they know our nature, that's why they don’t show up for a visit.

How to protect the wildlife you ask. Well, wildlife was prospering just fine without us all you can do is stop polluting their homes and they will find a way to live on their own. Animals are good at adapting just given them the space to adapt.

‘Global Warming’ is a phenomenon we all know about. But how many of us have actually felt it?

Every summer is slowly and slowly getting hotter and hotter. Summers are expanding themselves. In Northern India we experience all kinds of weather in a year but recently summers have covered up most of the year.

Winter hardly manages to squeeze in for just two to three months. Out of that too we have only a month of really bone chilling cold winter.

Spring and Autumn are heated up during these times.

And the Rains, well, aren’t they annoyed by us. The old nursery rhyme, ‘Rain, rain go away’ might soon change into ‘Rain, rain do come again.’ As we require it to replenish our reservoirs.

This global warming is melting up the ice caps and glaciers. The future might see the submerging of various places on earth and scarcity of water on the other.

If we would have developed enough technology then maybe we would be able to live a life under the sea.

Our very own Atlantis!

Wake up in the morning and see fishes bubbling about, outside your window. Take a mini whale to work. Eat some algae salad at lunch and feel weightlessness in water. Life underwater would be a lot lighter and fun.

The future might witness escape pods to some other planet. Maybe we plan to colonize mars. Hope we do well with that planet and not end up ruining it too.

Or may be the future won't be as different as today we might still be leading our lives the very same ways as today but that’s a very big MAYBE because it's our nature

to change.

To evolve to develop technology for our ease, it will continue to infinity and beyond.

We are entering the future every second.

This is the future, you have reached the future, this WORD right here is being read in the future.

The irony is the future will never arrive as it ends up turning into the present. So, let's make Present a better place to have a beautiful Future.
