People often forget that relationships need an equal amount of investment from both the sides to get a desired amount of return and to make it thrive and blossom.

As I entered the room, I could easily spot the anger on one of my friend’s face. Without me asking anything, he came up to me and said in a voice which had a mix of turbulent emotions:

“She messaged me and has asked to be friends again. How can I become friend with a person again when the friendship never really existed between us at the very first place?”

After a small pause, he again continued, “Remembering me only in the times of need, she used to call me her best friend and never knew a thing about me. She never even bothered to ask me about my whereabouts even when she had the time. She always managed to roam with her other friends but always had some or the other excuse for me. She disrespected me by not sharing the things that she used to share so easily with few of her other friends and today she comes and asks me to make the things as before."

I brought him a glass of water, tried to calm him down and said, “Just tell her that it is not possible. Why to disturb yourself so much?”

He drank the full glass in a single go and after relaxing for about a minute, he said, “The thing that is making me angry is that even after such a long time, she still does not understand where she went wrong that caused the end of our so called friendship and you know what, I am not taking the pains of explaining it to her.”

After saying this much, he rushed out of the home leaving me with an empty glass of water and a narration which forced me to think.

Sometimes, we end up caring for a wrong person and when we do not receive the similar kind of care in return, the things begin to fall apart.

After all, it is always about "you" first and then about the other person.
