Freedom

Looking back gives you regret. Looking ahead gives you hope, gives you opportunities.

I used to believe the above couple of lines as my mantra to life. These are definitely correct, meaningful and appropriate but today after a 55 odd days of lockdown I realised that the above couple of lines are incomplete without a third sentence which isn't only a sentence but a different perspective of life which I always used to ignore " Live in the present and introspect what you have". Yes, Covid 19 has caused an irreparable damage to our society, our familes, our country and the globe. My heart goes out there for the lakhs of affected families. We never know tomorrow it can be anyone of us. 

But it has also given certain important points that we had missed in our busy lives. Today we have realised that happiness doesn't come from the amusement parks or shopping malls, rather satisfaction comes from various fields which are still providing us food to eat and survive. With this little difficulty in breathing and the discomfort of using masks, now we realize what future we were leaving for our kids on this planet with ever-rising pollution levels. With every little struggle of reaching our offices, we realized how hard it was for our earlier generation who used to travel miles and miles for basic needs. Staying in lockdown for a couple of months has already taught us how difficult it is for that small little bird in the cage. 

Let's pledge to be a different person rather let's pledge that post lockdown we will step outside our house as human with actual humanity who knows to respect the struggles of our elders, who knows to satisfy himself or herself based on the actual needs and pass on the extra to someone really needy, who knows to protect the future of our generation next and most importantly who understands the true meaning of Freedom.
