Four Friends All Alone

Once there were four friends. They were known as very close friends among their school-mates, as well as in their society. They were in the same age group. Their school was going to close the day after. They were very excited for their summer vacations. They had planned about the station and the hotel they would be staying in. This was going to be the first time they would be travelling independently. This was the cause of their extra excitement. All four friends boarded the train to go to their chosen vacation spot. It was night when they arrived at their destination. They reached the hotel and went inside. They were excited by thinking that they were staying here without being under any guardian’s watch. They had taken their packed dinner in the train and so they weren’t hungry. Their room had 2 double-beds which were big enough for all of them to enjoy. They were tired out from their long journey and soon fell into the lap of sleep.

 

The next morning they woke up. They left their bed and came to the window. It was a very beautiful sight outside. The rising sun fell on their faces. The birds were singing and squirrels were scampering around. The four friends went for a quick morning walk. They came back and ate a delicious breakfast. Then they decided they would explore the whole hotel. They went out into the lobby and asked one of the staff members where everything was. The staff member told them happily and went back to his work. They explored the whole hotel and learned about the large forest surrounding it. They wanted to explore it but the staff told them it was very dangerous. One of the friends thought that he had seen a shadow but thought it was his own. Actually it was of a thief who thought they looked very rich. He decided to rob them. After that it was time for lunch, so they ate it and decided to go and explore the market at the other side of the forest. They took a lot of money as they had heard that there were hundreds of stalls in the market. They took a taxi to the market place. When they arrived the market was full of people running around to buy things. A lot of them were tourists. The friends wandered about and after a while wandered into the forest. There, they met the thief.

 

“Give me all your money and valuables,” the thief said.

 

The children were terrified and ran away in different directions. The thief did not hurry to run after them. He knew the kids were tourists and did not know the way round. He, on the other hand, was a local, so he could easily catch them. He just saw which way each of them ran off and knew where they would end up in an instant. He sprinted after one of the children and robbed him, then he ran in the direction of another and robbed him too. He did this with all the children and left with their money, it was truly a lot.

 

The scared children did not tell the hotel staff what had happened with them. They just went into their room and lay down on their bed. After a while someone knocked on their door. One of the friends got up and opened it. He was very surprised when he saw the thief at the door. This time he was in a police uniform. The thief came in and sat down in a chair.

 

“I really am a police officer,” the thief said “I am on a secret mission to protect all of the travelers who come in this area. When I saw you four leaving the hotel, I decided to test your friendship bond…and you failed. Listen, you all could have jumped on me together. After all there were four of you and I was only one. Then I would have had two options. To escape or to get beaten by you. This way you could have prevented the robbery, but you ran away in different directions. In this way you have proven yourselves ‘ALL ALONE’” And just then the friends realized this too. The police officer returned all their money and left.
