The car stopped in front of a high end 25 floor apartment complex and Raghav got off from it. He was welcomed by the real estate agent, who took him to one apartment on the fifth floor, by an elevator. The apartments were designed in such a manner that one lift was shared by four apartments, whose main door was placed in such a way that one door does not face another one. He was shown a model apartment, which was fully completed and furnished as well. It was in 4000 square feet built up area with a drawing room, Living room, three bedrooms, kitchen and a small study/office room. All rooms were strategically place with few connecting common spaces. The apartment was fully airconditioned with independent controls for each room. The interiors and decors were tastefully done. He was told that the interiors will be done in consultation with the buyer, according to his choice. The kitchen was very elegantly designed, keeping functionality in mind. It was modular with all the gadgets, a built-in dishwasher, cooking range were provided.

The complex had sufficient parking space, all common amenities like a gym, swimming pool, club house, play areas for children as well as adults. There was also a superstore for groceries. In short, there was no need to step out for daily requirements. All in all, Raghav fell in love with the apartment. “Sujatha will be floored by this apartment. This place is a must have. I will bring her and show her and move forwards.”

He did not want to show that he fell in love with the property. He said,” I will bring my wife and show it to her. We believe in Vaastu. The Pandit has to see and approve it from Vaastu perspective before we finalize. Can we discuss the final price and payment details please?”

He was taken into the site office and after a lot of calculations and bargain, the final figure worked out to be two crore rupees. Raghav was speechless and was trying to say something. Suddenly he experienced a big jolt as the car stopped as the driver applied the brakes suddenly, as a buffalo was crossing the road unexpectedly, at its own pace. Raghav was totally confused, did not understand what was happening.

Raghav then remembered that he sat in the car sent by the real estate broker and was going to see some under construction apartments for purchase. He will be getting some bank loan and will have to sell the ancestral property in his village. Still, he will be short of some amount. As he was going through his calculations, he dozed off into sleep. The luxury apartment that the saw was a fantasy, a figment of his imagination. Sadly, he thought,” it will remain a fantasy, as it is beyond my means.”

Everyone desires and needs a home and every Individual’s fantasy is to buy a dream house. There always would be a gap between reality and affordability and finally a compromise. Ironically, one individual’s fantasy can be someone else’s reality. Whatever be “a roof over the head” comes after a great effort, investing a lifetime's sweat, toil, earnings and savings. Some are fortunate to realize their fantasy and for some, the Gap between the Fantasy and reality is huge to fill.
