Part 3- The Dream

Written by Kingson Das

Scene: Interrogation Room – Night]

Aniket, Farhan, and Rohit sit with their hands tied. Ashish and Michael sit across from them. Behind Ashish and Michael, two police officers stand silently as backup, watching the room carefully.

Ashish:

Why did you do it? Why the robbery? What drove you to this?

There’s a long pause. Rohit suddenly speaks up, his voice shaky.

Rohit:

It wasn’t always like this… I didn’t want this life.

[Flashback: Rohit’s Past – Dimly lit home]

Rohit, a young man, sits quietly while his parents argue. Suddenly, a tragic accident leaves him alone.

Narration (Rohit’s voice):

My parents… both gone in one night. The accident left me with nothing but pain and memories. No one cared. No one helped. I was left alone, lost. I tried to hold on, but the world kept pushing me down.

He tries hard to find work but is rejected repeatedly.

Rohit (flashback continues):

I met Aniket and Farhan during those dark days. They didn’t ask questions. They just… understood. We needed a way out. The only way we knew.

[Back to Interrogation Room]

Rohit’s eyes glisten.

Rohit:

I joined them because I had nowhere else to go. The robbery was survival… and a scream for help no one heard.

Ashish nods silently, then looks at Aniket.

Ashish:

What about you, Aniket? How did all this start?

[Flashback: Aniket’s Past – Empty streets, rainy night]

Young Aniket walks alone, watching people around him ignore a homeless child.

Narration (Aniket’s voice):

I grew up in these streets. No family, no hope. Every day was a fight to survive. I swore I would never be powerless again.

He finds Farhan, also struggling, and together they make a plan.

Aniket (flashback continues):

I found Farhan in a similar place — hungry, lost, angry. We dreamed of something bigger, something that would change our fate. We created a team — a family.

[Back to Interrogation Room]

Ashish turns to Farhan.

Ashish:

And you, Farhan? What made you join this path?

[Flashback: Farhan’s Past – Hospital room]

Farhan sits by his mother’s bedside. She is weak, struggling to breathe.

Narration (Farhan’s voice):

My mother was sick for years. The hospital bills… they swallowed everything. I tried to work, but it wasn’t enough.

He watches as she quietly passes away.

Farhan (flashback continues):

After she died, everything broke inside me. Aniket found me when I was ready to give up. Together, we built something — something we hoped would save us.

[Back to Interrogation Room]

Ashish looks at the three.

Ashish:

You’re more than just criminals. You’re victims of a broken system. But robbery isn’t the answer.

Michael leans forward.

Michael:

You still have a choice. This isn’t the end.

The two officers behind them shift their weight, ready to intervene if needed.

The three look at each other silently, the weight of their pasts heavy in the room.

Interrogation Room – Moments later]

Farhan lets out a heavy sigh, his head tilting slightly, weighed down by everything.

Suddenly—

BANG! BANG!

Two gunshots come from behind Ashish and Michael.

Ashish and Michael collapse, blood spreading across their shirts.

The two backup officers reveal their true colors, pulling off badges and pulling out weapons.

Officer 1 (cold smile):

Farhan sent us. No way they take his team without a fight.

Officer 2:

This ends now.

Farhan’s eyes flash with cold determination.

Aniket and Rohit look shocked but quickly snap into action.

Farhan quietly mutters:

We’re not finished.

The officers start securing the room, guns trained on the others.

Outside, distant sirens grow louder.

After the shooting]

The two fake officers quickly untie Aniket, Farhan, and Rohit.

Rohit (looking at Farhan):

When did you plan all this, Farhan?

Farhan just smiles calmly, no answer.

Aniket pulls out a thick envelope, hands it to the two officers.

Aniket:

Here’s your cut. Now, let’s go.

The officers nod, pocket the money, and start to leave.

Rohit suddenly stops and raises his hand.

Rohit:

Wait. Give me a gun.

The officers hesitate but hand him a pistol.

Without warning, Rohit fires twice—both officers fall silently.

Farhan looks at Rohit, surprised.

Farhan:

Why?

Rohit (coldly):

Those who betray the government can betray us too. No loyalty with liars.

The three exchange looks, then quietly leave the room.

[Scene fades out — Morning light]

The three men wake up, stretching and rubbing their eyes.

Aniket:

What a wonderful dream.

Farhan:

Yeah… felt so real.

Rohit:

Almost like it actually happened.

They share a look—laughing softly.

All together:

Just a dream.
