Dinner Tonight?
Dinner Tonight?
"Dinner tonight?" Aditya's message arrived. I smiled and replied, "Are you asking me out on a date?" He replied "Ya, of course. A dinner date where two best friends can judge people who are actually out there on a date." I laughed seeing his message and replied "Let me know the time and place, I will be there."
Eight in the night and we were sitting in the restaurant. Since it was the month of February so there was apparently a live program going on in which all the couples had to speak on something related to love. As I and Aditya were sitting together so we were also considered a couple and were asked to speak on the topic "romance." We both had no clue what to speak and what not to. But then all of a sudden Aditya said "I think a lot of people don't know what real romance is." I just looked at Aditya and he was already looking at me. He continued "Anyone can buy you flowers, chocolates, jewelry and etc etc. but the truly romantic things in life are those little things which show them every day that you care for them." I was flattered by this but was also nervous because now it was my chance to speak in front of so many people and I was sitting blank. Meanwhile, Aditya just held my hand and showed me his trust in me through his eyes and said "Go ahead!" Somehow I gathered all the confidence, looked into his eyes, and said "It's going out of your way to make them happy. The way you hold her hand when you know she is scared, just to show her that you have complete faith in her." Aditya smiled and continued "Real romance is something when you just randomly ask them out for dinner and they don't hesitate to say yes to you because you gave them that comfort of being with you." I continued and said, "It's just about a random text in the middle of the day, asking if they are okay or not and telling them how much they mean to you." We both were still looking into each other's eyes, holding hands. Aditya continued saying "It's about telling her how beautiful she is even when she is in a ponytail, sweaty and wearing no makeup." I smiled and said, "It's about laughing at his jokes, even the lamest ones so that he feels happy about it." Aditya chuckled and said "It's about putting your favorite show on a pause so that she can tell you how her day went. It's about slow dancing on the roof and kissing in the rain." I was totally mesmerized by his words. Meanwhile, he just kneed down and said "So, miss best friend. Are you ready to fall in love with me? Because I promise you that whenever you will fall for me, I will be there to catch you each and every single time?" I simply just couldn't find a single reason to say "no" to him. I looked into his eyes and said "I never thought that anyone could ever capture my heart as fast as you have." He got up, kissed me on my forehead, and gave me a sweet hug. That day I realized that "true love is not about buying, it's about giving."
