Covid-19

It was the month of May, 2020. Corona pandemic broke out everywhere, all over the Globe. But being a government school teacher I had been instructed by higher authority to attend the school . The next day, very early in the morning we were shocked after getting the message that one of our dear colleagues was tested covid-9 positive who was attended the school previous day.

As expected, we were sent for home quarantine for 14 days. First few days I spent in fear , thought I might also be infected. News paper , media and social media media every where there was nothing but news of Corona. I was living a hectic life , but during that period I remembered the Poem "Keeping Quite" written by famous Chilean Poet Pablo Neruda, where the poet has emphasised the need to introspect and bring the spirit of brotherhood among the people of the world by keeping quiet that is a short period of time, till he counts to 12.

I found the similarities as quarantine is trying to make us do the same, just instead of 12 years, it's 14 days. Due to Globalization the World became tremendously busy, nature was tired as we tortured it so rudely, it were seeking some rest. We were in such a devilish appetite that could never been to be quenched. We were forgetting everything , even the bonds within the family members. Aside from all the tremendous negative effects of the virus, at the very least the quarantine period provided us with a scope to revive our bonds.

In the evening while I was walking on the terrace, for the first time, the beauty of my hometown was revealed before me. I was amused when I saw the birds were merrily chirping and returning to their nests. Every where was lockdown.

But it has been a pathetic situation where lot of families were losing their dear ones. Doctors , nurses and others health workers were serving and sacrificing there lives. Defence ministry is also doing their duties to keep us safe and secure. Every one is waiting for the wheel of life to start moving again.
