With her shoulder-length chocolate brown hair tied up in a pony, she made heavy fast-paced strides to return back home from work. Her hazel eyes glittered in the dark as it followed the road from this end to that end. In a flirtatious smile for a random post on some social media, she bent down her oval face. Her square and wide jaws jittered involuntarily in the freezing cold outside.
She didn't bring her personal car so she had to take a cab. The road was aloof as it was late and winter was bad this season. Finally, she saw a cab drive slowly in her direction.
She had a cringe feeling that she was being followed. Be it during her walk at the riverside or on her way to work and her evenings at the gym she felt being shadowed. She had tried different tricks to trace it down, to jump in a taxi and drop out of it near the next block, to go into the traffic circle, flipping on the turning signal and changing direction. She couldn't just confirm whether it was real or just her intuition.
She began to change her routes to the workplace, even used stairs and elevators alternately. She secured her social media handles, digital lockers, and her personal devices. She had changed the locks to her house doors and had new surveillance cameras installed.
On the advice of his boyfriend, she carried her smart pistol with her. The pistol was .22 caliber which is integrated into the smartwatch which displays real-time data on battery levels and bullets fired. The watch acts as a key to fire the gun as the gun can be operated only by an authenticated user.
The fear that began to rise in her was that the battery levels of her pistol were down to zero and it was the only aid she had in case of any emergency. She felt a black sedan following her cab...
