The Fortune
Looking at the boats that moved up and down with the waves he walked gently near the sea. People around him had skewed expressions looking at him. One among them pulled away from their daughter from his path. They were few who shrugged away from his vicinity. There was nothing known as kindness that existed around him except for the serenity in those gentle waves. People stayed away from the waves as they were a bit fierce that evening.
For him, it was those waves that offered him the warmth that mankind and humanity failed to offer. With his torn clothes that were oversized, flapping due to the wind he kept his steady steps. He dipped his feet in the waters and waited for the waves to gently wash his feet. He laid back on the waters and let the water rejuvenate him. The sky was dark, with no visible cloud in sight.
As the rain started, people fled the beach and he was alone drenched in the rain. He observed something float in the waters a few feet away from him. It was not the regular bottles or debris. It was strikingly different that cau
ght his eye. It shined brightly in the darkness that was enshrouded. He slowly walked towards the object and gently picked it up.
He was shocked to look at himself in the mirror. He wore newly stitched expensive pants and a shirt, unlike his torn clothes. He was inside a well built concrete house, unlike the thatchments and roadside places he used to reside. Different varieties of food were before him and he ate happily as opposed to sleeping with the hope that some leftover food would be available for dinner.
As he stepped out people wished him, opposed to being humiliated and shunned. There was self-confidence that was evident in him. The object that was mysteriously shaped was there on the table inside the house. The lights flickered suddenly and he heard a voice. “I am there to fulfil your desires whatever they might be. Kindly command me master on my duties and your needs”. He was awestruck in surprise and slowly replied,” I just wish this house stays with me and I get a decent square meal each day. And an occupation to meet my needs”.
